Prior to teaching I have worked in life science Reasearch and Development and in Biopharamceutical research, sales and marketing. I also worked a part-time voluntary teaching assistant in primary and seconday schools for 2 years. In 2014 I decided to change career completely to become a science teacher, so I trained at Kings College, graduating with my PGCE in 2015.
My background prior to teaching brings additional experience and skills to my teaching. Chemistry is my specialist subject. I have taught and tutored all sciences successfully to years 7 to 11, and have taught and tutored Chemistry and Biology at A level.
I can teach Maths and Chemistry from KS2 to A level. I have been teaching since 1989. I have retired few years back from full time teaching.

We have a dedicated covid secure classroom. We have an extremely comprehensive equipment store to cover all the experiments for GCSE and A level Science (Biology, Chemistry and Physics). This enables the students to take part in experiments which enhances their learning.
Since the lockdown, our response was to transition, virtually overnight, our teaching online. The tutor’s hands became the student’s hands and the cameras their eyes, the microphone and speakers became their voice and ears. With the power of a broadcast switcher, the student did not have one view but many, depending on what was needed. In addition, we decided to live stream tutorials on YouTube going through GCSE and A level Maths, Physics, Chemistry and Biology, topic by topic, week by week utilising all our equipment for experiments. This was to develop a resource for all not just our own students.
I achieved 8 in GCSE maths, 9s in GCSE biology and chemistry and A*AA in Psychology, chemistry and biology A levels. I customize each session to meet individual learning styles, ensuring a supportive and effective learning environment. In 2016 I spent 4 months in China teaching English as a Foreign Language. I taught 5 classes, each with two lessons a week (16 weeks). I taught Business English Reading (2 classes), Oral Communication, and English Speaking and Listening (2 classes). I also taught a condensed English Speaking and Listening class with the same number of lessons but over a four week period. My classes consist of between 30 and 45 students in their third or fourth year of study. I am expected to prepare appropriately for lessons, provide weekly attendance and participation scores, and set the final exam for all classes. I also gave a ten-week series of open lectures on British Culture.
