I am a secondary science teacher working in Birmingham. In my spare time I love singing, baking, painting and reading. I love science practical's and will happily try to teach some of these that can be done at home.
During my A-Levels, I tutored students from Year 7 to Year 11. I also tutor A-Level Biology. This allowed me to be aware of the latest curriculum of each subject and I understand the importance of this as this is one of the ways to achieve success.
To start with, I use a diagnostic test and then tailor my lessons to suit the students' learning styles. I believe this helps the student to grasp the knowledge quickly and understands it well. I prepare the lesson materials similar to exam-style which is crucial for students to score higher grades. I make quizzes for every lesson to start and end with that tell me about students' prior knowledge as well as what the student has learnt in the lecture so that we can build it up later in revision sessions. Giving out homework to finish in their own time, is another way I use for students to understand the topic well enough.
My aim will be to have an impact on students' lives and change the way they view learning.

Experience and diligence are the key consistencies of a successful teacher, both of which I have taken the effort of acquiring over more than 20years of my high-yielding teaching career. I am an experienced teacher and I have been teaching continuously for 36 years, My career has been in secondary schools and FE colleges including teaching adult students on Access programmes and the Foundation degree programmes. I have also taught combined science to GCSE as well as Physics and Biology. I do online tutoring as well as face to face either one to one or in small groups and students always travel to me. Having worked as a tutor for over 5 years, I have a wealth of experience in various exam boards and subjects. I believe lessons should be engaging and interesting for both the student and tutor, in order to facilitate the best learning experience. Normally, I like to use exam-style questions in order to gauge the student’s knowledge and work on their weaker topics, enabling them to answer questions confidently and clearly- gaining higher marks.
A lot of students could be excellent at a subject, if they are properly engaged. As someone who is passionate about tutoring and equally wants your child to do well, your child will enjoy their lesson whilst learning key tips to ace their exams. There is no room for lengthy explanations, dull note-taking or constant listening in my lessons.
As a child, I remember hating certain subjects because the teacher made the lesson really boring and unengaging. After independent study at A-Level and university, I realised how interesting some topics were and the importance of keeping students interested, which essentially means being interested as a tutor yourself.
