Hi! I'm Katie, I'm 25 and I live in Lancashire, UK. I run my own science tutoring business, biologybykatie. I have always had a passion for education and loved my whole time through school, sixth form and university. I have a particular love for Science hence why I chose to complete my undergraduate degree in Biology. I am friendly, approachable and keen to help young people with their understanding of GCSE subjects. If I can play a part in a student's journey to success, it will be a great achievement for me. I am friendly, patient, understanding and therefore feel I will find some success in online tutoring. Please feel free to contact me with any queries - I am not limited to my subject preferences and would be open to tutoring other subjects. After all, tutoring helps keep my brain active and learning too!!

Experienced Science, Maths, Computing Tutor for 11 + entrance, KS2, KS3, GCSE, A level
I hold Engineering & IT degree and had worked in various domains across education, banking, insurance, Aerospace & Defence, and currently doing part time consultancy for Gaming development. This wider experience helps me to give students a relevant glimpse of how their present studies can be applied in the wider world. I have over 9 years successful experience tutoring students from Key Stage 1 to Key Stage 4. The subjects I teach include: - • 11 plus KS2 -Maths, English & Verbal reasoning preparation • Science – Physics, Chemistry, Biology (Key Stage 1 - 4) • Mathematics (Key Stage 1 - 4) • Computer Science (Key Stage 3-4) • Design & Technology (Key Stage 3-4) I am an experienced and enthusiastic tutor with a strong passion for teaching. I have gained experience working with whole class groups and individual pupils. I have also had the opportunity to work those with various additional needs which has enabled me to improve my skills in areas such as communication, behaviour management and maintaining a flexible approach to teaching styles to meet individual needs. I have supported hundreds of students, and their parents or carers, to identify strategies that enable the attainment above and beyond their subject target grades.
Tutoring Approach
My mission is to make a positive difference in the community’s children's lives through Education. I aim to encourage an enthusiasm for lifelong learning, for students of all ages, by unlocking learning potential and building confidence. Prior to the commencement of tutoring, I offer a free consultation session & free assessment to review the exact level of the students. Then with Students and their parents/carer, we review the current academic report with empathy and listen to the concerns surrounding the subject, including barriers to learning and discussion of appropriate learning styles. I subsequently construct an individual syllabus-specific course of study, aimed at achieving above and beyond the target grade. I provide regular feedback to parents/carers to ensure complete transparency and offer extra hours of tutoring if needed to cover the syllabus or exam preparation.

I am currently a 5th year medical student at Lancaster University. During my first year of studies at university I was tutoring my younger brother in GCSE chemistry, who went on to obtain an A grade. In the subsequent years, I have been tutoring A-level biology and chemistry and GCSE chemistry. Of the students I tutored, all have gone on to achieve their desired grades/obtain a place at their preferred university.
I have had a background in teaching as during my A-level studies I taught swimming lesson on a group and 1-2-1 basis, hence helping me develop the skills in order to deliver content to a class.
I am passionate about chemistry and biology and thoroughly enjoyed these lessons throughout school, however I recognise, like any subject, how certain aspects of the subject can be very challenging. I feel that by forming links in the subject to form a wider picture of the subject as a whole can help develop a better understand and overall make the content more interesting, and hopefully, more enjoyable.
I am looking to conduct my lessons online via services such as Skype and will be looking to focus on pupils at GCSE level.
I will aim to teach on an individual basis and find a method which suits the pupil best. Common methods I tend to have found work best involve styles such as using past paper questions and conducting a range of activities based around these questions such as breaking the question down and looking at each individual element. I have also found methods such as using a white board and showing diagrams on screen can work well to help try and explain concepts in a different manner. However like states above The teaching will be on an individual basis and I aim to find a method which the pupil will gain the most benefit from and hopefully makes the learning experience a bit more enjoyable.

I am orgnanised, reliable, and enjoy working with children and teenagers. I love learning and would like to share my knowledge to support other students. I will help with homework, revision, filling gaps in understanding and solidifying knowledge.
I have very recent GCSE experience and therefore have an in-depth knowledge of the AQA curriculum. Science Clinic Private Tutors was founded in 2010. Our vision was to help struggling children understand the concepts of the major subjects which are sought after by many colleges & universities. Our tutoring was mainly in the main subjects (Maths, all 3 Sciences & English Language) to exam students only. Because of the huge demand of tutoring in all year groups, we now teach students across the board from Primary (KS1 & KS2) through to GCSE, A-level and University. We were luck to have had colleagues we share the same vision with join us. Now we can teach all subjects from Primary through to GCSE, College /A-levels and Science & Maths at University level. All our teachers / tutors are graduates and qualified teachers with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) who understand the National Curriculum. Some of them are examiners at GCSE and A-level, which means they know the exam techniques students need to answer the exam questions properly and get better grades. Within the team, we have professionals with very high qualifications ie Masters Degrees (MSc / MA) and PhDs in various subjects. We can, therefore, be confident to say we are professionals who are dedicated to what we do with proven records in the UK’s most entrance and national exams. We are a tutoring organisation that is defined by its professionalism. Our aim is to provide a personal service. This makes us very different from most tutoring companies that just offer a platform for tutors and students to meet. We speak to clients so that we can match them with the most appropriate tutor for their needs. When this happens, the results can be remarkable & confidence grows. We personally know all our tutors and all have had DBS checks and their qualifications checked before we take them on. We are also a member of The Tutors’ Association (TTA) which was formed in 2013 to provide standards to the tutoring industry.

Philip M R. Ltd is a small company in Hemel Hempstead which, amongst other operations, provides 1 to1 private teaching to local children from Key Stage 2 upwards in STEM subjects. The company’s teaching philosophy, built up over 40 years of teaching experience, is based upon the mantra tell me I forget, show me and I will remember, but let me do and I will understand. Fully qualified teacher with 40 years teaching experience
We have a dedicated covid secure classroom. We have an extremely comprehensive equipment store to cover all the experiments for GCSE and A level Science (Biology, Chemistry and Physics). This enables the students to take part in experiments which enhances their learning.
Since the lockdown, our response was to transition, virtually overnight, our teaching online. The tutor’s hands became the student’s hands and the cameras their eyes, the microphone and speakers became their voice and ears. With the power of a broadcast switcher, the student did not have one view but many, depending on what was needed. In addition, we decided to live stream tutorials on YouTube going through GCSE and A level Maths, Physics, Chemistry and Biology, topic by topic, week by week utilising all our equipment for experiments. This was to develop a resource for all not just our own students.
