I have a total of 4 years of tutoring experience, with both tutoring agencies and in private tuition. I have taught GCSE and A level students across a variety of exam boards, namely Edexcel, AQA, OCR and JWEC. My students have gone to excel in their chosen subjects with significantly improved results.
As a tutor I use a webcam via Skype or Zoom to communicate with my students and a virtual whiteboard to write and explain as I go along. As part of my teaching many of my students have given me positive feedback of how homework and lectures aid and reinforce their learning outside tuition classes.
I usually correct the homework and highlight the corrections before starting a new subject material to ensure my students feel confident that they have mastered a topic before moving ahead. I also make PowerPoint lecture slides and handouts for my students which I am always more than happy to email. After covering the syllabus content, I usually leave ample time to discuss past exam paper questions and how to answer them.
The core principle of my lessons is to first and foremost lay a foundation for the subject material for my students and then to build up the complexity. I highly encourage understanding scientific principles rather than rote memorisation to my students.
I believe learning should be tailored to every students’ individual needs and requirements and they should enjoy the learning material.
Hi, my name is Grace www.*** I specialise in supporting pupils in their exam years, particularly GCSE Biology. I have had two and a half years experience working in a secondary school helping pupils achieve their grades via one to one and group tutoring sessions. I have also had a wide range of experience working with SEND children, particularly those with autism and ADHD. I also have two brothers with these conditions so have a broad knowledge on the struggles they face but also the huge potential that lies within them. It is important that an inclusive environment where they can thrive is established so their talents can shine through. I have produced a wide range of study resources for my tutoring sessions all of which are very visual to help the students with remembering content but also so those with SEND needs can easily access and understand them as well. My understanding of the support that those with additional needs can get in their exams is profound as I used to deal with arranging this in my previous work for two years. If you would like advice or help with this then get in touch!
During my own A-Level studies, I was in a car crash and sustained a traumatic brain injury and suffered from PTSD. This occured during my exam week! It brought many challenges but I was still able to gain AAB in my exams due to the techniques I developed to study effectively despite memory issues I had. I now teach others with similar physical and psychological conditions different ways to deal with their setbacks, and techniques they can use for their exams/revision so they are less impacted and can still thrive!
In September 2021, I will be starting a degree in Primary Education Studies to broaden my knowledge of the early curriculum but also to expand my teaching ability further in order to give my best to the next generation. In the meantime, if you are looking to bump up your grades in GCSE/A-Level Biology or are wanting some extra support for an individual with SENDs/brain injuries then get in touch, I would love to share my knowledge and expertise with you!
I have 22 years teaching experience. I have taught Chemistry to GCSE, BTEC and GNVQ and A Level Chemistry to Year 12. I have also taught Biology to GCSE Level and Physics to KS3 Level. I have Primary experience in both KS1 and KS2.
I have a number of year tutoring experience for Chemistry and all my tutees have passed their GCSE.
Lesson will consist of prepared notes which will be discussed during the tutoring sessions. There will be supported by use of worksheets and then exam style questions. Each lesson will be based on specific areas of the syllabus that is intended to support the work that is being undertaken in the classroom. This will follow the part of the syllabus being taught in the classroom, to support and re-inforce student learning.
I use videos to support learning and these will be showed used a laptop. I will use a projector (if it is possible). If the student wishes to only look at specific areas if the syllabus, then I will undertake to produce material to support this request.
I gained membership of the Royal Society of Chemistry and have undertaken volunteer work for them. I also volunteer in the Science Museum in South Kensington for the last 8 years.
University of Cambridge for the Cambridge Festival of Ideas and the University of Cambridge for the Cambridge Science Festival.
Due to current Covid restrictions I undertake lessons via www.*** ;
Kerry has been teaching science for 20 years, from key stage 3 science to biology, chemistry and physics A levels. She has also taught rural science and astronomy GCSEs. Consequently, she is very experienced at teaching a range of science qualifications to students of widely differing abilities and backgrounds.
Kerry has been a Head of Science for 11 years in both a large comprehensive state school and a smaller private school. Between these posts, she was an Assessment Manager for Cambridge International Examinations where she managed the production, marking and grading of a suite of GCSE level examination papers and mark schemes, a role that she has continued on a consultancy basis, writing, revising and vetting examination material. This role has given Kerry a detailed knowledge of how assessment principles are used to design examination questions and how students should respond to these in order to secure maximum marks.
Kerry has a patient, positive approach to teaching. She aims to boost students’ self-belief and make them more resilient learners. Although there is a scientific robustness to Kerry’s teaching, most of all, she aims to make science enjoyable to her students.
I have been a science teacher for 25 years in the South East Essex area. I live in Burnham-on-Crouch with my wife and our 3 sons aged 20, 17 & 15. I understand the challenges faced by pupils with the current science syllabus and my aim is to break down difficult topics into manageable and understandable components. I am passionate about science as a subject and I aim to be engaging in my style of teaching. Throughout my career my lessons have been graded as `very good` by inspectors and professional colleagues. As a teacher my priority is always to help students achieve their goals, if this means I need to mix up my teaching styles and tackle topics from a different angle I will do so.
Currently in my second year of a Biomedical Sciences Degree. I have previously tutored from years 1 up to year 11 in both tutition centres and private. I can tutor in English, Maths and the Sciences.
I am finishing my exams in three months. I am a full time student and will continue to be; however I am very dedicated to helping others by sharing my knowledge and making a difference in someone's life.
I am the Head of Biology at my school. I am a specialist at A Level Biology for both Yr 12s and Yr 13s but I can also teach Triple higher for all science up to GCSE. I am very experienced at teaching KS3 & KS4 Science at all levels. I teach the AQA board, however I have many students I tutor who do the OCR, EDEXCEL, Cambridge Assessment and other boards too. I am very experienced in helping students achieve success and have a track record of proven results.
