I am currently a Medical student at Keele and a graduate from the University of Salford, achieving a 1st in my degree in Human Biology and Infectious Disease. Achieving the highest mark within my university. I was responsible for a programme known as GEMMS which is for supporting students in their medicine/dentistry applications, assisting them in interview technique and for the entrance exams.
I have mentored and tutored for 5+ years, helping students to achieve grade 9 in maths. I currently tutor Mathematics, physics, biology and chemistry for A-levels and below.
I am a fun person who particular loves his sports. Seeing the improvement and progress a child can make in a short amount of time is always the best feeling and I strive to help you achieve your goals and beyond. Sometimes having that 1 to 1 session can make all the difference in clearing up any worries about a topic.
I begin my classes by asking the student what they want to learn or discuss during the session. If they have a doubt in a concept, I will ask them to explain the same concept to me in their own words and correct them wherever necessary. I will provide some good methods to study or approach that topic. I will conclude the lesson by asking them if there is anything they would like to discuss in our next session so that I could prepare some questions in advance. I will also regularly be assessing your improvement through the use of practice papers to get an idea of where the student is at and how they can further improve. I would love to help other children going through GCSE's and SAT's and to boost their confidence. I hope to make children realise that with the right mindset, one that they realise if they work hard, they can do it and achieve good results. As someone who has just finished their GCSE's, the subjects are very much fresh in my mind. I would love to use any tips and tricks in which I have been taught that may differ to any others they have been given and to help them understand more.
I have had experience working in primary schools for almost two years now, working with children with SEND and SEMH difficulties as well as other children to help them achieve their full academic potential. I have delivered 1:1 and small group based interventions in age ranges from 4 years old in their early years all the way up to 11 in the run up to SATs. I have spent a lot of time working with children who had the academic level of several years below their age group however after sometime of 1:1 intervention they have thrived and caught up with their peers. Not only have I worked with children for their academics but I have also worked with children to help give them the opportunity to learn self regulation and mental health support. This has come from a wide range of support programmes such as zones of regulation and social detective. I pride myself on how fun and engaging I like to make my time with children and with how much of a difference emotion coaching can make to their lives. In the run up to SATS I worked in delivering intervention based lessons to our cusp students to help them go on to achieve greater depth in their SATs but also to help children who believed they couldn’t do their SATs.
