I feel that my key skills are passion, creativity, plus confidence and calmness within many different situation. Having been around young children all my life, I can be relatable to them and have the ability to build rapport with young people using a mix of individual care skills (listening, patience and empathy) and group management skills (motivation, organisation and behaviour management); secondly, resourcefulness or the ability to be creative with learning opportunities (using active learning approaches and overcoming learning barriers) and thirdly, the ability to demonstrate personal and professional resilience (sustaining high expectations of yourself and your students) in being so I ensure that I am always doing the best that I could so that I can always be the best that I can be. Through the use of these 3Rs, I have managed to create learning opportunities for young children that they would like to engage in. These opportunities were through after school and lunchtime clubs and were led either individually or as a team. Throughout my experience as a supply teacher, I had to quickly develop this rapport with students, the key was to building the rapport with the students was to understand the students interests and to link the lesson to those interests. These skills have been reflected into my work as a tutor and I always strive to ensure every session is utilised fully fot all students involved. |
