I have recently retired (July 2020), aged 67, after 17 years teaching English at Shrewsbury School, one of the UK's leading independent boarding and day schools, recently voted TES Independent School of the Year. I was also a boarding housemaster for 13 years from 2007-2020. I graduated from Cambridge University (Magdalene College) in 1976 and qualified as a barrister in 1977. Fom 1977-2003 I was a legal writer, editor and for 15 years, from 1988-2003 Managing Director of one of the UK's leading law book publishers, Jordan Publishing Ltd. In 2003 I retired from the business to pursue a lifelong ambition to teach English. At Shrewsbury School I taught GCSE, IGCSE and A level. I have been married to my wife Ruth for 40 years and we have three grown-up children. I am happy to tutor in person or online at our House here in Wells or at the pupil's location.
