Over the last 8 years, I have had the privilege of working as both a class teacher and Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) in a respected UK prep school. My teaching experience spans across all years of Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2, providing me with a broad understanding of the curriculum and the developmental needs of students at various stages of their primary education. As a class teacher, I have designed and delivered engaging and differentiated lessons to meet the diverse needs of students, ensuring that each child’s learning style is catered for. I’ve worked across a wide range of subjects, from English and mathematics to science and creative arts, always striving to make learning stimulating and accessible for all. My approach has always been to create a nurturing classroom environment where children feel confident, supported, and motivated to achieve their best. In my role as SENCO, I have had the opportunity to support students with a variety of additional learning needs, including dyslexia, dyspraxia, autism spectrum disorder, and ADHD. I have worked closely with both teachers and parents to develop individualised education plans and targeted interventions, ensuring that all students have the resources and strategies they need to succeed. This role has also involved training staff on best practices for inclusive teaching and advocating for a whole-school approach to inclusion, making sure that every child is supported to reach their full potential, regardless of their challenges. Throughout my career, I have been committed to personalising learning, helping every student feel valued and empowered. My experience as both a class teacher and SENCO has equipped me with the skills to be flexible, creative, and proactive in addressing the needs of all students, fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment across Key Stage 1 and 2. |
