With a first class Honours Degree in Government and Politics, Geoff's civil service career was spent on health and social security issues both as an operational manager and policy adviser. He served as a Private Secretary to a number of Ministers in the House of Commons and Lords during Margaret Thatcher's Conservative administration 1983-87. Policy issues he dealt with include: the Fowler reforms of social security, Care in the Community and the first Child Support policy and legislation. Prior to his Governmental career Geoff spent two years in the City and six years in the Army. For over a decade Geoff has been an accredited associate with the National School of Government, and has served as a Local Councillor and Mayor. |
