Accademia dello Spettacolo | Turin- Italy | Musical Theatre | Academician | 3 year Musical Theatre Course |
I-to-I Telf | London | TEFL | Academician | Level 5 320 hours Tefl Diploma |
Hello Everyone! My name is Elena and as you can guess I’m Italian but I’ve been living in London for the past 6 and a half years. I have a Diploma of Higher education in Musical Theatre, and a level 5 320 TEFL Diploma. I have been teaching Italian (as a second language), General English and Business English to different age groups and levels for the past 3 years. Before becoming a teacher, I used to work in sales, customer service and administration so if you need help with improving your English for work purposes, I can help you with that. I love teaching because I have the chance to meet new people and get to know more about different cultures. But the most important thing for me is to help non-native speakers to improve their English skills and achieve their goals. I know from my own experience how difficult learning a new language is especially a language like English which is mainly based on phonetics. For example, people whose language derives from roman roots such as French, Spanish, Italian, struggle with English because unlike other languages, the way words are written doesn’t correspond to the way they are pronounced. That’s why I think students should really focus on listening and pronunciation. I think that being Italian, gives me an advantage as an English teacher since I can share with you some tips to overcome these issues. In terms of my teaching style, I tailor the lesson to the individual students since I think that every student is unique and has a different learning style. I like to teach using authentic material such as podcasts, YouTube videos, newspaper articles and adverts because I think this is the best way to get in contact with real functional English used in everyday life. I also create my own material, always personalized to the students using PowerPoint presentation which I share with the student before or after the lesson. During the trial we’ll have a conversation to get to know each other and I will ask you some questions about your goals. This will give me an idea about your level and about what I will include in our lessons. So, I’m hoping to meet you soon and start our our journey together!
Bye bye! |
