We support people to get involved with activities within the community and within our centre. We are very new and are aim to offer people the service they want and need. We are focused on young people becoming as independent as possible, and our approach is always driven by respect and having the highest expectations of those we provide a service for. We are working on cooking, travel and money skills with people who have asked for this. We also access sports sessions in the community and use community services available to all, such as the local gym. We will soon be offering employability sessions based on the ASDAN training scheme. We have sing signing sessions which offer people the opportunity to learn Makaton in a really interesting and modern way (all the songs are decided by the group). We also have a contemporary dance session, as well as reminiscence for older people. We welcome new challenges and ideas, and are always keen to hear service users opinions and views. We are part of Windward Day Services which is based in Netley Marsh, near Totton. We offer holidays to all our service users and have our own Foundation which can help with the cost of these. We have been to Butlins, France, Skiing, on activity holidays and plan to do lots more. |
