Home tutoring Science

Science, technology, engineering and maths careers are growing at a great pace, but are often seen as difficult. Some students are discouraged by early failures, but a good science tutor can help students reach their learning goals by supporting them as individuals with their own way of learning. Working with a science tutor whilst studying science at school can be a great investment. In a classroom setting, individual students will often have problems with some concepts, and teachers are overloaded, with a lot to get over to, on average, thirty students per class.

Working with a science tutor on a one-to-one basis can help a student speed up their learning development, as well as having specific questions answered along the way. The tutor will also pick up any gaps in the student’s previous learning that could prevent them from gaining confidence in their own abilities, often leaving students with a conviction that science is too difficult for them. Working with a private science tutor will help eliminate this problem and enhance their learning experience.

The attention available to a student will ensure they understand every area of science and give the student the confidence to tackle some seriously challenging concepts.

Learning in the comfort of your own home is a wonderful opportunity to explore new ways of learning. A good tutor will find creative ways of engaging you with challenging questions and fun tasks, as well as a range of educational games, projects and problems to engage your interest. This is a vital step, where the tutor, who not only knows the subject but also understands the examination process, can formulate questions that help students apply their existing knowledge to a new question. A lot of studying involves learning by rote, but this approach has problems in the sciences, where students are expected to apply new-found knowledge to problems they have never encountered before.

A personal tutor will engage the learner with follow-up questions, in-depth analysis and discussions that can explore a topic in great detail. The discussions are an important part of the scientific method, revealing the depth of a student’s understating of the subject, as well as the ability to reason and use the study material to qualify views.

It’s an incredibly exciting time for the sciences, since progress is truly eye-watering. The opportunities are vast, and we're seeing a period where art and science are coming together more and more. Science is no longer the preserve of a few boffins in a rarefied world of white coats and laboratories. Science is all around us, and it's the future.
