At Phi, we have only one purpose: to inspire our students to achieve the highest level of academic success.
We work with students, families and schools to improve students’ exam performance in science and mathematics. On average, our students receive a grade two levels higher than they had previously been predicted to achieve. Our process focuses on developing the following key attributes:
our students’ knowledge, so they are able to navigate the subject matter and context, our students’ skills, so they learn how to best approach problems and exam questions, our students’ confidence, so they are able to navigate new challenges with ease.
All of our tutors have superb teaching skills, are passionate about their subjects and are focused on delivering exceptional results for our students and their families.
I have taught maths for over 25 years mostly as Head of Department
Maths and physics lessons in London, UK.
I have a total of 4 years of tutoring experience, with both tutoring agencies and in private tuition. I have taught GCSE and A level students across a variety of exam boards, namely Edexcel, AQA, OCR and JWEC. My students have gone to excel in their chosen subjects with significantly improved results.
As a tutor I use a webcam via Skype or Zoom to communicate with my students and a virtual whiteboard to write and explain as I go along. As part of my teaching many of my students have given me positive feedback of how homework and lectures aid and reinforce their learning outside tuition classes.
I usually correct the homework and highlight the corrections before starting a new subject material to ensure my students feel confident that they have mastered a topic before moving ahead. I also make PowerPoint lecture slides and handouts for my students which I am always more than happy to email. After covering the syllabus content, I usually leave ample time to discuss past exam paper questions and how to answer them.
The core principle of my lessons is to first and foremost lay a foundation for the subject material for my students and then to build up the complexity. I highly encourage understanding scientific principles rather than rote memorisation to my students.
I believe learning should be tailored to every students’ individual needs and requirements and they should enjoy the learning material.
I am currently using Facetime and Zoom to teach my tutees but I would usually teach at my house. I was an ice skating professional and teacher and then did a degree and a teaching certificate. I have been in my current day-time job teaching in a sixth form college since 1989. I tutor English Language, English Literature, Drama, Languages, Dance, Performing Arts and Maths. I attended Tiffin Girls' Grammar when I was young. I prepare tutees for 11+ and entrance exams. I am a senior examiner, a moderator and a Lead Verifier. I have co-authored 5 text books.
I have a great deal of experience as a tutor. I have been working at one of the UK's leading Grammar Schools for the past four years. I tutor maths GCSE and A level online. I have also conducted numerous online webinars/ webclasses and drop-in sessions for students across the country for A Level maths. I love to make maths engaging. My instagram and YouTube accounts (Mark-a-minute maths) has had a wide following from students and I consistently post short 1 minute videos for students to get snappy, bitesize reviews of topics and model answers to exam questions.
I have been working as a private math's tutor for the past five years! I love my work, & to work 1-1 with student's to help breaking down blocks to the subject. I love to tailor my lessons to each student's specific needs & eduacation background. I have taugh from ages 5-22, syllabus from EYES, KS1-GSCE, with great success; Both in person & online. As a current third year Physics with Theoretical Physics student at King's College London, I have an unrivalled experience in both Physics and Mathematics that I can share with you. I have received awards from my university for achieving the highest first year laboratory results and have achieved a First in both my first and second year results. Furthermore, I achieved 5 A*s at GCSE and 3 As at A-levels, and I can help you achieve the same.
I have had several years of teaching experience in a few different areas. I am currently working at a tutoring centre where I help students develop their skills in a large array of subjects. I have also had professional tutoring experience with MyTutor where I have tutored students for A-Level and GCSE Maths and Physics for over a year, helping students to achieve the grades they require. With MyTutor I provided support to students over a video call, helping them with homework problems and achieving the grades they wanted.
I used to be member of my school's academic mentor team and eventually helped to run and organise the academic mentors. Our role was to provide support to younger students studying for their GCSEs. I would meet up with one or two younger students over lunchtimes and provide support and tuition in Maths, Physics and Chemistry. I partook in the academic mentor team for two years.
Further to this, I was a member of my school's Combined Cadet Forces where I was trained in how to prepare and deliver lessons to younger cadets and was later given the responsibility of training them. My time leading cadets in the CCF taught me how to effectively deliver information to people and the importance of suiting my teaching style to different people. I have also given support to some of my friends with EFL tasks and would often try and explain the mistakes that they may have made. This helped me to learn how to communicate ideas in an effective manner to people who are not entirely fluent in English.
At Ultimate Tutors our services are convienent, personalised and rewarding. We use a state of an art teaching and learning online platform to make our lessons more engaging, fun and tailored towards addressing misconceptions and weakness in student's learning process.

After graduating from a Research Master's Degree in English in France, I decided to come back to England and started a new carrier as a French Assistant at Westminster School, London. I have always loved teaching languages to my pupils and teaching French is definitely what I see myself doing for the next upcoming years. As I am now employed part-time at the school, I decided it would be a good opportunity to make the most of my free time and become a tutor.
I have been doing tuition for two years now and I think my three years as a French assistant helped me understand the kind of work I need to produce and ask of my pupils. Back in France, I was a school monitor in a high school for three years. Those three years were the most wonderful experience of my life. I was mainly in charge of the boarding school, and I think my relationships with the pupils there were excellent. They saw me as a mentor, a friend, but also someone they could come to if they needed help with homework. I spent many hours helping them to achieve their projects and all of them got good grades at the end of their "Terminales" (Y13 equivalent).
I offer tuition to students preparing for their exams in French (GSCE/A-Level/Pre-U) but I also tutored adults who just wanted to chat in French and/or improve their skills for their job. Despite the current situation, I am able to offer tutoring sessions via Facetime, Skype and Zoom.
