I'm Charlie. I'm a UK qualified teacher with a degree in maths. I've been teaching for seven years, including in secondary schools in the UK, as a private tutor and four years as a secondary maths teacher in a Cambridge International School in Vietnam. My areas of expertise are GCSE and A level. I have experience teaching both online and in person. My experience means I understand and empathise with students going through this challenging and important phase in their lives. I endeavour to offer a challenging but not overly demanding curriculum that encourages students to enjoy maths, as well at make strides in their skill level. My sessions are mostly exam practice focused. My approach is based on careful observation of the student so I can determine their specific areas for improvement. The next step is clear communication, with the necessary adaptations, to guide the student to discover that they have the ability to pass even the most challenging exam questions on their own. Students will recieve weekly homework tasks. I expect students to arrive on time to lessons, with the necessary equipment including a calculator, well slept and ready to learn and to attempt all the work set for them.

My name is Amelia H., I'm currently 24 years old. I graduated from Cardiff University in 2023 with a degree in Translation and Japanese. I have had a life-long passion for language and culture, as well as bridging between languages and cultures for a better understanding of the world around us. I have been told I am hard working, efficient and reliable. I do my best to be understanding of everyone's perspectives and ideas, and work well as a group as well as independent.
I work independently as a freelance tutor for Japanese for a company called Language Trainers. I take great care in providing a comfortable and easy-to-learn environment no matter the age. I prefer to have adult (18+) clients, but I am open to 13+ clients as well. I have partaken in Japanese courses from GCSE, A level and now a degree in Japanese and Translation. This experience aids those who learn from me as I am able to share my experience with them, as well as other cultural significant experiences.

My work revolves around assisting sen students in there learning typically on a 1-1 basis due to several students being disregulated. I personally love helping students develop there learning and understanding as I personally enjoy developing new skills. I also spent most my teenage years tutoring ks3 students in English as the school I went to had a large quantity of students that were struggling. I strive to assist in helping your child achieve everything they want and I'm beyond willing to do whatever I can to support them and their needs. Prices are negotiable if you're willing to pay for longer sessions or more regular sessions.

Throughout my working life, teaching French has been my main occupation. Starting as a language assistant, working as a full time secondary school teacher and working as an Adult Education tutor I have developed a broad range of effective skills which enable the learners to gain confidence in using French whatever their starting level. Passing on my enthusiasm for languages has proven to be thoroughly rewarding. I always seek to inspire my students and I have received excellent feedback. In 2013, I received the award for “inspirational tutor” of the year from South Devon College, having been nominated before on several previous occasions. I have experience in teaching all age groups from children to adults and all levels, frоm beginners tо advanced. I have taught across the age and ability range. I set high expectations for student achievement, always seeking to challenge and motivate so as to maximise the potential of each and every learner.
I thrive on helping others and teaching French has always been one of my passions. I have been told I am very patient, I explain things very clearly and have a good sense of humour.

I have a range of experience from several roles I have held, but I'd love to give you a brief overview of my qualifications.
I finished my GCSEs in 2021 and achieved 9s in both English Language and Literature, and a Distinction in my English Language Speaking Exam. Writing essays is an aspect of my education that I have always found tiresome and dull, like most students, but it can become a stress-free aspect of GCSE and A-Level if you know what the examiner is looking for. This is what I will be trying to teach to my students.
For my A-Levels I attended Exeter College and studied English Literature, Classical Civilisations, and Philosophy. I also did an Extended Project Qualification. I was proud to achieve AAB with an A in EPQ when I graduated in 2023, and am excited to pass on the revision and essay-writing skills I learned during the two years I did my A-Levels.
I am currently volunteering as a Teaching Assistant at my local primary school. Through this role I have significantly developed my ability to teach KS1, KS2, and even KS3 children, as well as dyslexic children. I have learned to be kind and patient with them, while paying attention to what makes the child an individual. Since every child learns differently, I take time to figure out how best to tutor every child. Not only this, but I am being given expert advice from some of the best primary school teachers in the country, who I have the utmost respect for as most of them taught me when I attended the school.
From the ages of 17-18 I worked at Build-A-Bear Workshop in Exeter, so I developed my skills working with children of all ages.
Finally, I was lucky enough to be a shortlisted Oxford candidate for English Language and Literature last year, so I am happy to help with personal statement writing, interview prep, or even ELAT preparation.
I hope you have found my brief description informative, but please feel free to reach out if you have any questions. :)

Music has always been in my life since my first drum lesson at the age of 8. I'm of the belief that everyone can be involved in music in some way, and education is so important in uncovering how we understand and enjoy music. I myself stuggled when I was young to understand the knitty gritty theory behind music and I never felt like I belonged as I didnt instantly click. However, after finding the right tutor and methods, my ability doubled in less than a year. This is what inspired me in coaching, finding new ways to view music.
I can help coach the fundamentals of music theory, practical skills in piano and percussion, and/or music technology and production. There is a world of possibility in contemporary music technology which many fear to dive into, however, it's highly rewarding if you have the interest.
