I graduated from UWIST in 1974 and have worked as a civil Engineer for the past 40 years - mainly in the Middle East.
The majority of time was spent with a consultancy firm where at the time of my retirement i was Director of Infrastructure Contracts.
In addition to my B.Eng qualification I also have Masters degree in Construction Law.
I have always been passionate about learning and especially found that learning through objects was a pssion of mine. This is why after completing my Ancient History degree in 2018, I went on to study an MA in Museum Studies and completed that in 2021. During my degrees, I volunteered as a tutor and a mentor to university students, firstly tutoring first year students in Greek History, and then acting as a mentor to a neurodivergent bachelors (and later on postgraduate) student at the University of Reading.
Since then, I've wanted to get back to my academic roots and am keen to get started with tutoring in History, Ancient History, Spanish, English Language and English Literature. These are subjects I excelled in at GCSE and would be delighted to support another student in these subjects. Additionally, I'm passionate about supporting people who are learning English as a second language.

I have over 20 years of experience in education. My specialism is maths and science but I have planned and taught English lessons as part of my daily job. I am based in Dunfermline, Scotland but have extensive experience working with online programmes and tutoring individuals and groups.
If you have heard of or used Sumdog, you will have seen my work. I designed the progression for the more than 3000 questions for mathematics and 3000 sentences for spelling. I can confidently find where a learner's strengths are and build on them and determine the barriers to progression and work with you to remove them.
I have designed GCSE exam materials for online platforms like Maths Made Easy and have contributed to a range of in person services so that they have a consistent approach to lesson delivery.

Bags First Aid specialises in First Aid training for those working with babies, children and young people. We provide training to schools, nurseries, after-school clubs, youth clubs, Duke of Edinburgh Award groups, childminders, nannies, parents and community groups. Each First Aid course allows practical hands-on experience using casualty simulation and resuscitation manikins. Childcare courses use special baby and child manikins. Training classes are small with no more than 12 participants. This ensures a friendly relaxed atmosphere and individual attention. Personal Description: Ciao! My name is Giampaolo. I have recently moved to Edinburgh from Sicily, Italy, where I worked as a music teacher for 13 years. I have been teaching the flute since I was 15 years old, both privately and in primary and secondary schools. I also have experience playing the flute in numerous orchestras in Italy, including as the second flutist in the National Orchestra in Rome and as the first flutist in the Meditterean Orchestra in Sicily. I would love to continue teaching students here in Edinburgh, and welcome students of all ages and abilities, whether you are a complete beginner, studying for exams or an audition, or looking to pick up the flute again. Tutoring Experience: I have been teaching the flute privately for 13 years since I was 15 years old. During this time I have taught students of all ages, from children to adults, and have also taught at primary school (for one year) and secondary school levels (two and a half years). Tutoring Approach: Most of all I think learning music should be enjoyed. While it is a challenge to learn a new skill, for beginners, or to master a new piece, for the more advanced, I aim to make this challenge enjoyable at every stage.
