I am a graduate from the University of Aston Birmingham. I hold a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, a certificate in Mathematics from the Open University and have A levels in Maths, Physics, Economics and General Studies.I am available from 4 to 9 in and around the Worcester area. Since the covid pandemic I teach online only, so I am able to teach students from other parts of the UK.
I have lectured part time at Halesowen College in the black country and have over 20 years of experience teaching Mathematics up to GCSE level on a ‘one to one’ basis. In 2015 100% of the students that I taught gained grade C or above in Mathematics, some even moved up two grades from their predicted level as a result of my one to one tuition. I have presented and authored several Maths revision DVDs that have been sold on amazon and used in UK schools as well as in other countries as far off as New Zealand and India.
I have taught a wide range of students with varied abilities and conditions including ADHD, cerebral palsy, anxiety and depression. I specialise in helping students with low levels of confidence and self esteem to help them succeed and gain the results that they want. I gained QTS in 2012 and spent over 10 years delivering outstanding lessons at one of the top rated Grammar schools in England. I was personally highlighted during my time there as achieving the best A- level results in the school, which was measured on pupil’s individual progression. I have 3 years of experience as a private 1:1 tutor where I teach online via Zoom. Students I work with make great progress (often jumping 2-3 grade boundaries within the first term) under my tutoring programme due to my experienced background and previous examining duties.
My approach is to be supportive, encouraging yet constructive in my feedback in order for my students to progress. My online sessions are personalised to meet the needs of the individual learner and are always tailored to the specific examination board being studied. I use various methods including delivering content that the tutee might not have grasped yet and I ensure to focus time each session on exam techniques in relation to short and essay based questions. I have a wide range of support material available and will often use this within the sessions such as model answers and examiner commentaries. My techniques are tried, tested and very effective.

Raising the academic attainment of students has been a deep passion and successful achievement - as a former Founding Principal of a school for 4- 16-year-olds, a current practising English teacher, and a tutor. For the last 10 years, I have been working as a primary school teacher at an outstanding school.
I have over 15 years experience and have worked within many schools, two of which were long-term.
Over the years, my teaching career has allowed me to experience many different and difficult situations. These in turn have made me a more confident, organised, resourceful and experienced (in many years groups) teacher.
My current role is a Year 2 class teacher, however I have taught children from Nursery up to Year 6 as a cover teacher too.
