Hi. I am Sandy. I have been a qualified Maths teacher for over 17 years. I have worked in local Secondary schools and Further Education colleges, since 2005. I also did some voluntary work in Pre-School and Primary. As well as being a trained teacher, I also worked as a learning mentor and as a teaching support assistant. I am also an examiner for AQA.
During the last 2 years, I have worked with teenagers and adults who are completing Functional Skills Maths.
My strength is in improving confidence in students, and I do that by working at a students pace. I believe in pointing out everything that a student has done correctly, and how to improve an answer, rather than focusing on mistakes.
Please get in touch if you require tuition. My particular strengths are KS3 and GCSE. But I will work with any age group, from year 6 upwards.

As a teacher, my ultimate goal is to create an enriching and engaging environment where learning and academic growth go hand in hand with personal development. My lessons are meticulously crafted to blend traditional teaching methods with interactive and hands-on learning experiences.
The format of my lessons typically involves a structured presentation of the core content, supplemented by multimedia resources, case studies, and real-world examples to enhance comprehension and application. I encourage active participation through discussions, group activities, and collaborative projects, allowing students to absorb knowledge and critically analyse and apply it in diverse contexts. Drawing from my extensive experience in teaching at various academic levels, including foundation degree and bachelor's degree programs, I bring a depth of knowledge and expertise to every lesson. My background in animal welfare science equips me to address a wide range of topics, from contemporary issues in the field to advanced concepts in animal health, behaviour, and genetics. Furthermore, I strive to create a supportive and inclusive learning environment where every student feels valued and empowered to contribute. I tailor my teaching approach to accommodate different learning types and preferences, ensuring that each student has the opportunity to excel and reach their full potential.

I am a highly experienced primary school teacher with over 10 years worth of subject knowledge. I have taught across the primary age range from years 1-6. I have prepared many year 6 children for the end of Key Stage Two Tests (SATs). This has been in large classes, small groups and 1:1 tutoring. All the children I have taught have made good or better progress. I am very familiar with the type of assessments that the children will take at both the end of Key Stage Two and Key Stage One. I have been a maths lead for 8 years and a reading lead for 2 years and during this time, outcomes have improved significantly. My lessons are fun and engaging and I always tailor learning to suit the needs of each individual child. I thoroughly enjoy enabling children to reach their full potential.

Teaching Philosophy: Definition (starting point) of teaching; can be one of two things:
The study of the fundamental nature of knowledge, reality, and existence, especially when considered as an academic discipline.
A theory or attitude that acts as a guiding principle for behavior.
As a citizen of two worlds (UK & US) I struggled to “know thyself” and take the best of both and drop the rest (for now). This is a great enough endeavor, however once in a small sense seeing the best of both: not to be afraid to stand on their shoulders and find a “third path”. It is that third path that Socrates talked about in his 4000 year old teachings = many hold today.
Creativity (for me) is a “One third path concept”. It should be fostered in Arts as well as Engineering. Music as well is critical to the “Quantum Revolution” of today, and the next 20 years. Waves because Music, Wormholes, Superstring Theory, Black Holes, Astrophysics and Vibrations are all the same thing, but at different frequencies. The third path unfolds each day and Enlightens each other…

I aspire to develop an interest in biology among students and help the student reach his or her full potential in preparation for the examinations. I am a Sri Lankan national currently living in Grimsby. I am a lecturer and researcher in microbiology and I have published several manuscripts in indexed journals on infectious diseases.
I have over 15 years of teaching experience of undergraduate students. I have experience teaching microbiology, molecular biology and immunology. I can teach OCR Biology A for AS and AL students. Microbiology and Immunology to undergraduate students.
I will be conducting online one to one sessions with the student and will be tailoring the teaching to the individual student during my lesson. This will enable me to develop a friendly rapport with the student and cater to the students individual study requirements. I will be explaining the concepts using slides, videos or diagrams and ensure that the student grasps these concepts. Study material can be provided to the student and importantly I will help in preparing for the exam by discussing past questions which will help to boost the confidence to face the examinations successfully.

I am a 20 year old undergraduate university student, studying Bsc Paramedic Science at the university of Hull. I am a very outgoing and friendly person, and I love meeting new people. I’m a big rugby fan, having played it myself at academy level! I studied BTEC Sport and rehab, and I am wanting to make use of my qualifications by tutoring students who are studying a similar subject! I believe private tutoring is an essential part of learning successfully, having 1-1 learning really helps a student retain information, receive specific and targeted feedback and really improve on any personal weaknesses within their subject.
