I'm a tutor whose goal is to make your least favourite subject your strongest subject. Although you might still dislike it, rest assured, you will be good at it!
I specialise in maths, biology, chemistry, physics, and medical subjects, and I love breaking down tricky concepts into simple, understandable parts. Whether you're struggling with your coursework or want to boost your grades, I'm here to help.

With over a decade of experience teaching and tutoring at A Level, I have developed a wealth of resources and techniques for optimising exam grades.
My priority as a tutor is developing exam technique and providing students with the best methods for maximising their grades.
My sessions tend to focus on past papers, mark schemes, essay structure and working together to figure out the most effective strategies for achieving the highest grades possible.
I also want to help forge a lifelong love of the subject, and find ways to make psychology relevant to my students' lives.
I have taught AQA A level Chemistry for almost 20 years and taught AQA GCSE Chemistry for 10 years. I am an experienced exam marker for AQA A level and GCSE Chemistry.
I have been teaching Spanish for over 20 years at secondary level; I am currently Subject Leader for Spanish at my current school and I have a wealth of experience preparing students for GCSE and A level examinations. I am also an examiner for two major exam boards with in depth knowledge of the A level and GCSE curriculums. I have also been a tutor and a teacher for Adult learners as well as teaching Spanish at University level (Durham University) for 3 years.

I have an excellent understanding of how students learn through evidence-based research and classroom practice. I have a systematic approach - I understand the student's need, how they think, their gaps in knowledge, their misconception and work with them to develop their confidence in the subject, be exam-ready and fulfil their potential.
I started tutoring alongside my studies in 2006. I've always found immense satisfaction in those lightbulb moments when someone struggling with a concept finally gets it. Science and especially chemistry is full of abstract ideas and often young people need that extra support from someone who can break it down to just the right level or explain in a way that it makes sense to them. I have a strong grasp on the curriculum and I adapt my teaching according to the needs of the pupils to ensure progress.

I am an experienced English teacher who can teach up to GCSE in English Language and Literature. I have nearly 20yrs experience working with a whole range of young people both in classroom settings and 1 to 1. I have a proven track record of great results!
After achieving QTS in 1999, I taught in several primary schools for five years, covering all ages (from Nursery to Year 6) and a wide range of abilities (from working towards level 1 up to level 6), in the full range of core and foundation subjects. However, having a predominantly financial/ numerical background, I decided to focus my teaching on mathematics and commenced teaching mathematics in secondary schools from September 2004, covering a wide range of abilities from below NC level 3 to GCSE Higher level.
From May 2007 to August 2019, I was employed by Kip McGrath (Keighley), tutoring students (during evenings and on Saturdays) in Maths (aged 6 to 18 years, at KS1 level up to GCSE Higher level), English (aged 6 to 11 years, at KS1 &2) and in verbal and non-verbal reasoning, in preparation for 11+ High School Entrance Exams. This involved supporting students in small groups working on individual, predominantly computer-based, learning programmes, to enable them to catch-up or improve their skills in specific areas, whilst working towards their personal targets/ goals, e.g. in KS2 SATs, 11+ Entrance Exams or GCSE exams. This experience inspired me to set up my own private tutoring business, which I have been running since April 2014, providing tuition to individual students in maths (aged 7 – 18+), English (ages 7-13), preparing students (aged 9/12) for local High School Entrance Exams and preparing adult learners for Functional Skills exams in both Literacy and Numeracy.
Having studied many courses covering a wide range of disabilities, including ASD, Dyslexia, ADHD and Sensory Processing Disorder, I believe I have a good understanding of, and empathy for, students with SEND and SEMH. To this end, I have taught many students with a range of learning difficulties/ barriers to learning and feel that I have made a considerable difference to each student’s enjoyment of mathematics and life-outcomes. I believe that my own enjoyment of learning enables me to encourage and motivate others to successfully engage in the learning process.
During the Covid-19 pandemic, I have delivered many lessons via Skype and Zoom and feel that I have become confident and competent in using these platforms for teaching students remotely and would be happy to continue to do so if required.

Throughout my time in schools I have come across a wide range of additional needs and put a lot of time into understanding the best approach to supporting the children with them in order to allow them to achieve the very best that they can. I have worked with a range of ages, and understand the Primary National Curriculum and how to teach it well due to this.
I tailor all of my sessions to the individual needs of the pupil, adjusting how content is covered based on their intrests and skills so that they can feel confident in themselves and their ability whilst reaching the milestones in their learning.
