With over a decade of experience teaching and tutoring at A Level, I have developed a wealth of resources and techniques for optimising exam grades.
My priority as a tutor is developing exam technique and providing students with the best methods for maximising their grades.
My sessions tend to focus on past papers, mark schemes, essay structure and working together to figure out the most effective strategies for achieving the highest grades possible.
I also want to help forge a lifelong love of the subject, and find ways to make psychology relevant to my students' lives.

I have an excellent understanding of how students learn through evidence-based research and classroom practice. I have a systematic approach whereby I understand the sgtudent's need, how they think, their gaps in knowledge, their misconception and work with them to develop their confidence in the subject, be exam-ready and fulfil their potential.

My name is Ana, I am from Madrid, Spain.
I am a qualified Spanish teacher with over 13 years of experience. In 2010 I completed a MA in teaching Spanish as a Second Language and then completed a PGCE course to teach Spanish and French in English schools. Since 2011, I have been teaching in secondary schools. In 2012 I became Head of Spanish in a London school and in 2018 I became Deputy Head of Languages at a school in Surrey. Most recently, I worked as Head of MFL and as an examiner for GCSE Spanish exams. During this time I have thoroughly enjoyed teaching students at different levels and training student teachers to join this profession. My qualifications and previous experience allow me to teach adults and teenagers. I can focus on different exams or skills and I prepare all my lessons carefully taking into account my students' needs and wishes.

After achieving QTS in 1999, I taught in several primary schools for five years, covering all ages (from Nursery to Year 6) and a wide range of abilities (from working towards level 1 up to level 6), in the full range of core and foundation subjects. However, having a predominantly financial/ numerical background, I decided to focus my teaching on mathematics and commenced teaching mathematics in secondary schools from September 2004, covering a wide range of abilities from below NC level 3 to GCSE Higher level.
From May 2007 to August 2019, I was employed by Kip McGrath (Keighley), tutoring students (during evenings and on Saturdays) in Maths (aged 6 to 18 years, at KS1 level up to GCSE Higher level), English (aged 6 to 11 years, at KS1 &2) and in verbal and non-verbal reasoning, in preparation for 11+ High School Entrance Exams. This involved supporting students in small groups working on individual, predominantly computer-based, learning programmes, to enable them to catch-up or improve their skills in specific areas, whilst working towards their personal targets/ goals, e.g. in KS2 SATs, 11+ Entrance Exams or GCSE exams. This experience inspired me to set up my own private tutoring business, which I have been running since April 2014, providing tuition to individual students in maths (aged 7 – 18+), English (ages 7-13), preparing students (aged 9/12) for local High School Entrance Exams and preparing adult learners for Functional Skills exams in both Literacy and Numeracy.
Having studied many courses covering a wide range of disabilities, including ASD, Dyslexia, ADHD and Sensory Processing Disorder, I believe I have a good understanding of, and empathy for, students with SEND and SEMH. To this end, I have taught many students with a range of learning difficulties/ barriers to learning and feel that I have made a considerable difference to each student’s enjoyment of mathematics and life-outcomes. I believe that my own enjoyment of learning enables me to encourage and motivate others to successfully engage in the learning process.
During the Covid-19 pandemic, I have delivered many lessons via Skype and Zoom and feel that I have become confident and competent in using these platforms for teaching students remotely and would be happy to continue to do so if required.

I have taught french for 28 years. I taught for 22 years in 2 secondary schools (one selective/one comprehensive) and I had pupils from year 7-13. I always taught GCSE and A level classes who regularly achieved very high grades. My lessons were almost always deemed "outstanding" by OFSTED. I organised numerous modern language trips as I believe experiencing the real thing is essential to language learning. I have laterly been teaching in the primary sector (yr 2-6) and I have enabled pupils to enter secondary school feeling more confident in/enthusiastic for learning French. I believe confidence and enthusiasm are essential for the successful learning of a language - that, and regular practice. I have always offered private face-to-face tuition to all ages/abilities/levels (inc GCSE and A level) and have started to offer Skype lessons as an alternative during the current situation. I am offering the first Skype lesson at a reduced rate of £20 to be sure that you are happy with the service I am providing.
A bientôt, j'espère et bon courage :)
Above all, stay safe :)
