I am a dedicated teacher who has grown in all aspects of teaching since embarking on my career. I have risen to the challenges of teaching and believe that all children can reach their learning potential.
As a tutor, I believe in working on a personalised course of study working through use of past exam papers and interview questions, teaching students to answer the questions well and grow in confidence.
I have successfully coached children through 7+ 11+ and 13+ exams including exams to scholarship level. Tutor Experience
I am a 1 to 1 and online tutor working with students in preparation for Independent School Entrance examinations at 7+, !1+,13+ along with the 11+ Examinations for Grammar Schools. I support children across the Primary Curriculum supporting their understanding to boost confidence and prepare them for both Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 SATS.
I also tutor Students learning English as a Second Language preparing them for English Proficiency Examinations including English conversation, Reading and writing.

I hold a Bachelor’s degree in English Literature and a PGDE in Secondary English from The University of Edinburgh. I have extensive experience working with young people in a variety of educational settings, including as a teaching assistant in mainstream secondary schools, SEN schools, and primary schools. Praised for his sensitive and nuanced playing, Joseph C. is a pianist, composer and teacher currently based in Oxford, UK. He received a scholarship to study piano under Philip Fowke and Penelope Roskell as well as composition under Deirdre Gribbin at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance, graduating with a first-class Bachelor's Degree with Honours in 2019. Joseph has played in several venues including Cadogan Hall, New College (Oxford), the Denis Arnold Hall (Oxford), 49 Queen’s Gate Terrace (South Kensington) for the Vernon Ellis Foundation, St. Alfege Church, the Old Royal Naval College and venues in and around Nice (France). One of his passions in repertoire lies with modern and contemporary music. Joseph has worked with Robert Saxton, commissioned works by composer Caitlin Harrison, and has frequently played and recorded new works by young composers for auditions to the national colleges of music and composition competitions. Despite this preference, Joseph also feels at home when performing staple repertoire such as Beethoven, Bach and Rachmaninoff. Some past engagements include participating in the Oxford Chamber Music Festival with violinist Marie Schreer, an all-improvisation recital in Oxford and the New Lights Contemporary Piano Festival.

I have been a private tutor for nearly six years for multiple companies - both in person and online. I have hosted exchange programmes to help students with English as a foreign language. I have helped to run summer schools. I have been educated at two Russell Group universities: my undergraduate degree in English Literature and History was acquired from the University of Exeter, while my postgraduate degree in English PGCE with QTS was acquired from the University of Oxford. I have been teaching English in a state comprehensive school for nearly four years, in which I have taught/still am teaching KS3 English, GCSE English (both Language and Literature), and A Level English Language and Literature (all with AQA). I specialise in teaching English to any secondary aged students; however, I have experience in teaching the eleven plus and am also able to help KS2 students with preparation for English at secondary school.
