Hi there!
My name is Valentine, and I'm a French violinist currently based in Abingdon (Oxfordshire), England.
I studied violin for six years at the Conservatory of Music in Nîmes, in the South of France, and passed my ABRSM Grade 8 Violin Performance exam. Over the past 2 years, I've had the opportunity to perform with various orchestras, including the Penang Symphony Orchestra in Malaysia (South East Asia), where I lived for nine months. I've also had the privilege of performing at private events, such as weddings, religious ceremonies, and birthdays. These experiences have enhanced my teamwork skills, taught me effective practice techniques, and deepened my passion for sharing music and bringing joy to others.
Now, I love sharing this experience with students of all ages and backgrounds, helping them grow and develop as musicians while ensuring they enjoy their time with the violin! I’ve been teaching violin privately for about two years to beginner and intermediate students of all ages, both online and in person. Additionally, I taught at a private school in Bouillargues, South of France, during the 2022/2023 academic year. I’m dynamic, passionate, caring, and love helping others make progress while having fun with their instrument.
I can teach both classical music and traditional Celtic fiddle (mainly music from Ireland, Scotland, and Brittany). If you'd like to play fun movie soundtracks, that's possible too—I can arrange pieces that suit your level!

Personal Profile
I am a dedicated teacher who has grown in all aspects of teaching since embarking on my career. I have risen to the challenges of teaching and believe that all children can reach their learning potential.
As a tutor, I believe in working on a personalised course of study working through use of past exam papers and interview questions, teaching students to answer the questions well and grow in confidence.
I have successfully coached children through 7+ 11+ and 13+ exams including exams to scholarship level. I am a 1 to 1 and online tutor working with students in preparation for Independent School Entrance examinations at 7+, !1+,13+ along with the 11+ Examinations for Grammar Schools. I support children across the Primary Curriculum supporting their understanding to boost confidence and prepare them for both Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 SATS.

I am an experienced teacher and academic working in both Politics and Philosophy. I have taught at the University of Oxford, the University of London, and the Open University. I have also worked in adult education at both undergraduate and post-graduate level. I am currently a Head of Department in one of the UK's leading academic independent day schools. I have many years teaching experience and know how to support students to make the step towards the top academic grades.
I currently teach EDEXCEL GCSE Psychology and AQA A-level Psychology. I am passionate about engaging students in the Psychology course and the wider world of Psychology. I have taught all aspects of these courses and the schools results for the subject are always higher than national average.

My two main passions in life are nurturing and creating art. The second is working with youngpeople to help them get the most out of the creation process as well and to feel the joy which I dowhen I make Art. From a young age, it was very clear to me that I would pursue a career as an Artist.

Since I have always enjoyed working with young people had previously worked part time in a Preschool as an Art Specialist, I decided to join a private tutoring agency in London, students would come to my studio inLondon and I would support them through their GCSE’s. Having enjoyed working with slightly older students so much, I decided to apply for an Artist in residence position at Garden House School in London.
At this point I had enjoyed teaching students from EYSF through to Key Stage 3 to 4 as well as myexperience giving ‘mindfulness art workshops‘ to adults in London’s members clubs; a programme I ran independently in a quest inspire young adults to maintain their wellbeing through the process of abstract painting.
I have thoroughly enjoyed all my teaching experiences thus far, the combination of being an artist,working with very young children where playfulness is at the heart of development and up to GCSEwhen students are thinking about pursuing a career in this wonderful subject. It became moreapparent that a job as an Art teacher where I could continue to apply and develop my creativity,motivation and ambition was perfectly suited to me.
Upon this discovery, I have begun to invest some more time and energy into helping work, after myposition as an artist in residence at garden House Primary School in London I began a counselling course which was online as a result of COVID 19, I also qualified as an Art Therapy Coach. I now look forward to using all my experince both as a professional exhibiting ar and teacher and helping children in develop and grow their artistic capabilities in the wonderful subject of Art.
