INTRO TEXT FOR VIOLIN TUITION :
Hi there!
My name is Valentine, and I'm a French violinist currently based in Abingdon (Oxfordshire), England.
I studied violin for six years at the Conservatory of Music in Nîmes, in the South of France, and passed my ABRSM Grade 8 Violin Performance exam. Over the past 2 years, I've had the opportunity to perform with various orchestras, including the Penang Symphony Orchestra in Malaysia (South East Asia), where I lived for nine months. I've also had the privilege of performing at private events, such as weddings, religious ceremonies, and birthdays. These experiences have enhanced my teamwork skills, taught me effective practice techniques, and deepened my passion for sharing music and bringing joy to others.
Now, I love sharing this experience with students of all ages and backgrounds, helping them grow and develop as musicians while ensuring they enjoy their time with the violin! I’ve been teaching violin privately for about two years to beginner and intermediate students of all ages, both online and in person. Additionally, I taught at a private school in Bouillargues, South of France, during the 2022/2023 academic year. I’m dynamic, passionate, caring, and love helping others make progress while having fun with their instrument.
I can teach both classical music and traditional Celtic fiddle (mainly music from Ireland, Scotland, and Brittany). If you'd like to play fun movie soundtracks, that's possible too—I can arrange pieces that suit your level!
Feel free to visit my website or Facebook page for testimonials from current and past students, as well as performance videos.
I offer in-person lessons in Abingdon or online lessons via Google meet. If you live in Oxford, Didcot, Kennigton/Radley or near by, I can also travel to your home.
Lastly, I offer 30-minute and 45-minute lessons—just contact me if you're interested!
Send me a message to arrange your free, no-obligation trial lesson :)
Looking forward to hearing from you!
Valentine

I have been teaching primary for 4 years now and am greatly enjoying it. I have taught the entirety of KS2 during this time and have experience teaching KS1 also. During my most recent year, I taught year six and supported pupils through their SATs. Pupils achieved a 100% pass mark for the reading paper with 42% achieving the greater depth standard. Pupils also scored highly in grammar and 81% achieved the expected standard in this subject. In maths, 42% of pupils achieved the greater depth standard in 2022-2023.

I currently teach EDEXCEL GCSE Psychology and AQA A-level Psychology. I am passionate about engaging students in the Psychology course and the wider world of Psychology. I have taught all aspects of these courses and the schools results for the subject are always higher than national average.
For the last two years I have also examined for AQA A-level Psychology.
I am currently into my second year of my part-time masters in Teaching and Learning at Oxford University in which I am running a project on how to help new sixth formers adapt to independent learning successfully.
In these current challenging times, I know students can feel behind on their work and I would be happy to help them revisit content they have covered during their time away from school or to revise and consolidate previous content covered.

I have been a private tutor for nearly six years for multiple companies - both in person and online. I have hosted exchange programmes to help students with English as a foreign language. I have helped to run summer schools. I have been educated at two Russell Group universities: my undergraduate degree in English Literature and History was acquired from the University of Exeter, while my postgraduate degree in English PGCE with QTS was acquired from the University of Oxford. I have been teaching English in a state comprehensive school for nearly four years, in which I have taught/still am teaching KS3 English, GCSE English (both Language and Literature), and A Level English Language and Literature (all with AQA). I specialise in teaching English to any secondary aged students; however, I have experience in teaching the eleven plus and am also able to help KS2 students with preparation for English at secondary school. I could tutor locally in Witney; however, due to my long working hours, online tutoring is preferable.

As well as having very good subject knowledge, I develop a relationship with my pupils. This means I am able to adapt concepts and skills in a way that is understandable to them and as their confidence improves, I increase their knowledge meaning that they are able to apply this to any situation.
I am patient and creative. I enjoy teaching and my sense of humour often puts pupils st ease.

I am currently working in a Pharmaceutical company as research scientist. Teaching is my hobby and the knowledge I gained so far from my education and experience, I am sure I can teach students from the basic level to pro and make them ready to pursue their future goals. I have more than nine years of rich experience in Pharmaceutical Industries working in Analytical department, which has helped me a lot developing and applying my science and maths knowledge in real life. The level of my work is much higher than what I offer to teach and this is the advantageous for students as I can explain them everything in-depth with real world examples. My method of teaching may differ from national curriculum, but the ultimate goal is to learn the easiest way to solve the problems and get success. Please get in touch for any queries.
Thanks.

My experience, training and approach to teaching make me a perfect fit forthe tutoring children I believe that my beliefs in exploring, experimenting and challenge as a way of revealing students’ unique talents and successand this is one of my main reasons for applying for this position as a tutor.
My two main passions in life are nurturing and creating art. The second is working with youngpeople to help them get the most out of the creation process as well and to feel the joy which I dowhen I make Art. From a young age, it was very clear to me that I would pursue a career as an Artist.
After gaining my University degree and having completed two diplomas in art and design from two of London’s best art schools where I developed my painting practice, I was ready to begin my careeras an Artist.
After my training, I had my first solo exhibition, I sold out of all thirty paintings which I spent one year creating. For some time, I enjoyed continued success and had multiple exhibitions, both Group and Solo and soon after I realised that I wanted to share my skills and passion. Since I have always enjoyed working with young people had previously worked part time in a Preschool as an Art Specialist, I decided to join a private tutoring agency in London, students would come to my studio inLondon and I would support them through their GCSE’s. Having enjoyed working with slightly older students so much, I decided to apply for an Artist in residence position at Garden House School in London.
At this point I had enjoyed teaching students from EYSF through to Key Stage 3 to 4 as well as myexperience giving ‘mindfulness art workshops‘ to adults in London’s members clubs; a programme I ran independently in a quest inspire young adults to maintain their wellbeing through the process of abstract painting.
I have thoroughly enjoyed all my teaching experiences thus far, the combination of being an artist, working with very young children where playfulness is at the heart of development and up to GCSEwhen students are thinking about pursuing a career in this wonderful subject. It became moreapparent that a job as an Art teacher where I could continue to apply and develop my creativity, motivation and ambition was perfectly suited to me.
Upon this discovery, I have begun to invest some more time and energy into helping work, after myposition as an artist in residence at garden House Primary School in London I began a counselling course which was online as a result of COVID 19, I also qualified as an Art Therapy Coach. I now look forward to using all my experince both as a professional exhibiting ar and teacher and helping children in develop and grow their artistic capabilities in the wonderful subject of Art.
