I am an award-winning and highly experienced "super" tutor and academic coach with over 15 years of tutoring, teaching and coaching experience, during which period I have made multiple students become university toppers and world prize winners. As for my own qualifications, I have a First Class Honours degree in Aerospace Engineering and a Doctorate in Engineering (Expertise: High-fidelity numerical simulations). As an undergraduate student at university, I was ranked number 1 with a cumulative average of 84%, for which I was honoured as the `Top Engineering Graduate`. I passed my A-levels (examining board: Edexcel) with straight A grades (note: there were no A* grades at the time), and my Mathematics mark in particular was ranked among the top in the world. We have a dedicated covid secure classroom. We have an extremely comprehensive equipment store to cover all the experiments for GCSE and A level Science (Biology, Chemistry and Physics). This enables the students to take part in experiments which enhances their learning.
Since the lockdown, our response was to transition, virtually overnight, our teaching online. The tutor’s hands became the student’s hands and the cameras their eyes, the microphone and speakers became their voice and ears. With the power of a broadcast switcher, the student did not have one view but many, depending on what was needed. In addition, we decided to live stream tutorials on YouTube going through GCSE and A level Maths, Physics, Chemistry and Biology, topic by topic, week by week utilising all our equipment for experiments. I am a passionate teacher who decided to join the education sector as a second career to help students discover the enjoyment that comes from mastering mathematics. My priorities are:
1) Fast progress (minimum 1-2 grade increase in 6 months)
2) Growing confidence, which again bring enjoyment, motivation so better focus.
Qualified at Master level, I completed my teacher training (PGCE) in 2014 and have taught in secondary schools since.
Because I am an examiner (GCSE Higher and A-Level), I know how marks are given, what the common mistakes are and which methods tend to be more successful.
I am aware that many learners experience math anxiety, a condition that can significantly hinder their ability to make progress in mathematics. I pay particular attention to those students who are affected by this challenge. It is important to me that students build an understanding of the subject over time as their skills develop towards mastery.
Currently working as a full time English teacher at a private school. My job isn't limited to teaching. My biggest priority, more than anything, is inspiring my students to realise their own potential.
