I have been teaching French and Spanish for over 25 years, in secondary schools, adult education courses and business companies. I have also implemented and developed a Latin GCSE course in my local school, which has been thriving for 25 years. I am experienced in teaching all levels up to advanced for French and A'level for Spanish and Latin.
I welcome learners from all academic and cultural backgrounds, all ages and abilities; I am just keen to share my linguistic skills!

WORK EXPERIENCE
Teacher Assistant Dorothy Stringer School October 2022 - June 2023
● I worked as a TA for Dorothy Stringer School in Brighton. My work consisted in working with 8 different special needs students on English, Drama, Science, Ethics, Art, Mathematics, Personal Development, Music, Spanish, and French classes, as well as one-on-one lessons. My goal was to help special needs students to cope and thrive throughout their school day, offering tailored support for each class.
Preschool Teacher Home Schooling 2019 – 2021
● I specialised in Homeschooling, working at an established institution and later establishing my own practice. I worked with groups of 2-4 children with personalised education systems.
Preschool Teacher Santa Blanca March 2018 – December 2020
● I worked for two school years as a Preschool Teacher at Santa Blanca Preschool. The main activities consisted in helping students develop social skills, using tools to introduce basic math, and setting consistent behavior expectations, as well as supporting children to enhance their motor and cognitive skills.
I did my PGCE in German with French which involved the usual two teaching practices. I completed these in two comprehensive schools. Since gaining QTS in my first teaching job in 2005, I have taught German, French and Spanish in three secondary schools, all at Keystages 3, 4 and 5. I am currently employed teaching all three of these languages in an independent school.
I believe that, in the drive to raise pupil confidence in speaking and general communication, there has been a decline in rigorous grammar teaching. My feeling is that knowing the grammatical foundations of a language well, in the long run, provides a basis upon which to build and therefore facilitates more confident and accurate communication. I try to strike a balance between sound reinforcement of the fundamentals whilst nurturing curiosity in the learner to try things out, manipulating language across contexts. With German in particular I like to offer an insight into the culture of the country and my time living in Germany enables me to bring the language "out of the page". I really enjoy teaching and like to engage my pupils so that they feel comfortable to ask questions. I also inject a little humour into my delivery, which has enhanced my teaching and boosted relationships. Mine is a safe place for learners to develop.

My name is Sofía Borrego Morena and I was born in Andalusia, South of Spain; although I was living in Torroella de Montgrí, in Catalonia, for ages. Torroella is a cultural village with a huge historical past in the middle of the Costa Brava.
I am the youngest of four sisters which two of them are living in England nowadays. Moreover, I have got a son, Arnau, he is studying at Barcelona’s University. He is smarter than me and I feel very proud of him.
I studied Art History at the University of Girona. I used to be art reviewer and now I am looking for a permanent position as a teacher. My master degree and other qualifications permit me to teach some languages as: Spanish, Catalan, French and English for foreigners. I have been teaching languages for students and adults for more than 3 years. In UK, I have been teaching Spanish and French to KS3 and KS4, and I am capable to teach Spanish in KS5.
My students are a bit different than me, when I used to go to Secondary School, same problems but dissimilar behaviours. I found them very active and with clearer ideas that I used to have. For this reason, I try to training hard and catch up about all the new ways to approach to teach.
