I am a GCSE student currently taking my examinations with predictions of all 8/9s. After lots of hardwork and determination, I have been able to achieve highly in all GCSE subjects on offer and I believe that as a young teacher, students will feel more comfortable learning with likeminded people. Although it may seem easy, GCSE's and studying is hard! I for one found subjects like Maths and Science very difficult and spent hours practicing and perfecting the subjects. Now, I teach my friends and family all of the subjects I have learnt for GCSE and I know all of the tips and tricks for revision and effective studying. I will make lessons fun and interactive ensuring students are prepared for whatever exam they are taking or for any help in subjects they are struggling with.
I am about to take my Music GCSE exam with a predicted result of grade 8/9. I achieved 100% in my performance and composition and feel teaching is the right next step. I have a distinction in Grade 8 acoustic guitar and have achieved my Grade 5 music theory. I enjoy playing electric/acoustic guitar and singing as well as improvising on guitar! I have performed in countless venues solo, within a Rock band, in choirs, in orchestras and in musical theatre shows. Although I started learning with an acoustic guitar at the age of 7, I have now got two electric guitars, a keyboard, microphones and a ukulele! I personally adore Pop, Rock, Britpop and Jazz music and my favourite artists include Oasis, Chappell Roan, Fontaines DC, Arctic Monkeys, The Cranberries, Billie Eilish, Amy Whinehouse as well as many more!
On the first lesson, I will work out a plan personalised to the student and their aims and goals. For all guitar students, we will cover fun songs to play on guitar with strummed chords and different plucking techniques including any songs the student would prefer to learn! Within one lesson, we will also go over basic scales needed for theory and improvisation and we will work from the RGT grade music books or the Rock School music books learning the songs needed for acoustic classical guitar/ acoustic guitar performance grades. The student will be able to learn how to play the guitar songs needed for grades even if they don't wish to take them or, they can have the option just to learn any songs they would like for a fun experience. The student will also learn the parts of the guitar and begin to learn all the notes of the fretboard for sight reading. Additionally, I will ensure the student is able to read chords and tabs for guitar as well as basic notation that can be helpful for theory and other instruments. The student will have the ability to play a wide variety of techniques including Hammer-on, bends, slides, finger-picking and palm muting. I will also teach the student about different ways of playing guitar and different effects that can be created using Amps and tuning.
I will also cover how to write chords on paper- key skills for songwriting- as well as tips on performing that could be useful for any musician no matter the instrument. As I have skills in writing my own music as well as producing my own music, I will be able to encourage students to explore different genres of music and different styles of playing. Within the lesson, we will cover everything stated above to ensure the student has a well rounded musical knowledge. I will always ask that the students go away and practice at home but this will never be forced- the student will only practice if they enjoy playing! If the student grows to love the instrument, they will crave the music and they will want to start playing alone at home without being pressured.
I am able to complete lessons in person or online for just £12 an hour!

As an artist and teacher, I enjoy challenging traditional conventions of writing and believe that art involves organizing chaos. My goal is to help you find the tools to transform your emotions and creative impulses into something audible. Each lesson I offer will be tailored to your strengths, weaknesses, and interests. We will engage in weekly songwriting exercises, study various artist styles, and write for specific ideas. I can also provide feedback on any songs, poems, or compositions you have written. I believe that everyone has the potential to become an artist; you just need to learn the language to translate what's inside you into something tangible that we can all enjoy. Don't hesitate to reach out to me, and we can schedule lessons right away! What the lessons look like:
The lessons are entirely tailored to you. In our first session (which is free), I'd like to get to know you a bit, discover what kind of music you like, which artists you admire, and what you'd like to learn. If you've already written something, I'd love to hear it. Then, we can start from there. ABOUT ME:
I have been writing songs for 15 years, starting when I was 13 years old. At the age of 16, my former band in Vienna won the main prize in the Red Bull Bandwagon competition ((concealed information) I completed my studies in music and production at the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts. Following that, I worked as a composer for theatre, particularly on the West End in London ((concealed information) (concealed information) and composed for various short films. My musical influences range from Paolo Nutini and Bill Evans to 80s pop icons like ABBA (ABBAS's genius is not to be underestimated!).
EXPERIENCE: - Songwriting with other artists (Spotify: Katy H.) - Band and arrangement leader for the dance performance '27 Club' in Liverpool - Session musician (weddings, restaurants, birthdays on piano and vocals) - Music producer for various artists (Sprout, happysadmedium, YOUTZ) - Composer and sound designer for various theater productions in London (Jermyn Street Theatre - This Beautiful Future, Jermyn Street Theatre - HOLE, Pleasance Theatre - AGATHA) - Composer for short films (Rejoyce by David Ledger, Ceres starring Juliet Stevenson by Amelia Sears)

-Sorry to say that I no longer live in the UK and am no longer teaching, so I can't help anymore. I can't find how to delete my account, so I'm writing this here instead. Good luck everyone! - I'm Nic S. and I've dedicated most of my life to music. If you're passionate about music, I'd really love to help you improve your skills, and develop your creativity. My first instrument (Which I've studied to degree level) is guitar, and I consider this instrument my 'Home base'. Music is more than just 'playing guitar' though, so I'm also open to teaching music theory, composition, songwriting, production, engineering as well as mixing and mastering. I don't work to a curriculum, and I don't teach grades (Unless it's what a student wants). Whatever you're struggling with is what we'll focus on, and the music that excites you is the music we'll be learning about! I'm here to teach you, for you. Despite having an academic background, I really feel like music is for everyone, and whatever helps you achieve your goals matters more to me than if you know 'standard theory' or things like that. Feel free to get in touch and we can set up a call where I can get to know your musical interests and needs, and you can decide if you'd think I'd be a good tutor for you! :)

I am a freelance guitarist based in London, and have just finished studying a BA(hons) Degree in Music Industry Practice at the Academy of contemporary music (ACM). I've played many gigs, from small scale productions, to corporate functions and events. I have also worked with numerous artists in studio and live settings, playing in venues up and down the country. With this first-hand industry experience I can provide the most relevant and practical skills to any of my music students.
I cater my lessons to each of my students! From learning songs via ear, to understanding music theory and Instrument technique, I believe guitar playing should be a fun and gratifying. So it is my job as a tutor to pursue whichever avenue of music the student wants to delve into! Keen to explore, eager to challenge.

- Logic/Ableton Music Production
- Songwriting, Composition, and Film Scoring
I also offer support with:
- Music Theory and Music Reading

VIOLIN LESSONS:
My violin lessons are for anyone, no matter how young or old, who wants to learn to play the violin within the context of folk, pop, or rock. We will look at classical violin technique to ensure safety whilst playing, as well as how to read music and music theory. We will look at folk, pop, or rock repertoire, and at the techniques that can be used to make these genres come alive on the violin.
MUSIC PRODUCTION LESSONS:
At its simplest, music production is the careful creative process of capturing and showcasing the raw recordings of a track, arranging them in the sonic sphere in such a way that a listener can truly connect with the artist's intention. More complexly, it can build an intriguing world of sound around the core songwriting/compositional elements. I teach my students how to use music production software and how to put sounds together, leading through to creating fully recorded, produced, mixed and mastered music projects.
COMPOSITION/SONGWRITING/FILM SCORING LESSONS:
Have you ever wanted to write your own pieces of music? Are you looking for feedback on your work? My lessons are for anyone who wants to study the art of songwriting, composition, or film scoring. Sessions will be presented in a supportive way through constructive discussion, practical tasks, worksheets, and writing sessions.

REVIEWS:
"Iona was lovely and made me feel really comfortable as a complete beginner (at songwriting). She obviously really knows her stuff and is great at explaining and coaching. Would recommend her!"
"Exceptional and very patient teacher. I was a "mature student" who had never touched a violin before but was immediately put at ease with a tailored training programme that focused on the type of music I enjoy. Most recommended!!!"
"Iona is a passionate, dedicated and highly intelligent individual who has the ability to make what seems impossible, possible. Her (composition) lessons are fun and tailored perfectly to the needs of the student. If you want to learn music, then learn here!"
"Iona is a very patient and fantastic violin teacher! My 6 year old son loves her lessons and looks forward to them every week. He has learnt violin so quickly and I am grateful for all Iona’s help."
"My 12 year old daughter wanted to learn music production. Being Windows based we went down the Ableton live route (Industry standard). I had no idea about the software at all. We came across Iona whom was "local". Her in depth knowledge of Ableton and her strong music background have been a perfect fit for tuition. My daughter has a weekly 1 hour lesson via zoom and has progressed with basic setup to compiling beats and working towards songs. She has covered midi, instrument selection and use of microphone. Ableton is far more complex than I realised and having 1:1 with Iona I have seen great progress. My daughter looks forward to lessons and most importantly has fun with Iona making music!"
"My experience of learning music production with Iona has been overwhelmingly positive. She has excellent knowledge which she teaches in an accessible easy to understand way for a complete novice like myself. Also, she is a brilliant facilitative teacher, encouraging you to put things into practice. I was totally intimidated by the parameters of Ableton but now I’m beginning to get my head round it and have fun with it thanks to Iona."

I have worked professionally as an actor, a playwright and as a singer-songwriter for the past five years, since graduating from the Guildhall School of Music & Drama in 2016. Last year I wrote, composed and starred in a new original musical which is being revived again this year. Later, in the summer, I will play my first festival set as a solo singer-songwriter. I have been playing guitar, keyboards and writing songs for over ten years. My first album and tour as a singer-songwriter are due next year.
At school, I received 8 grade 1 (the highest possible grade) Standard Grade Awards (equivalent of GCSEs). I then received 5 grade A (the highest possible grade) Higher Awards (equivalent of A Levels), as well as receiving Best In School Awards for English and History, I received Certificates of Merit for the three other subjects: Music, French and Maths.
I have worked as a Nanny, teaching instruments to under 10s, and have extensive experience teaching drama school auditionees of all ages, students having gone on to earn places in RADA, Guildhall, LAMDA, Central and many others.

Hi All!
I am Marty, I am the Owner/Director and one of the tutors at Double M Studios.
I decided to launch DMS due to the passion I have for music and to make it a platform to be able to offer opportunities to students and adult learners that they may not be able to get anywhere else.
Music has been part of my life for a very long time. I was lucky enough to have two of the most amazing guitar tutors that anybody could have asked for. One of which became a very big inspiration for what I am doing now.
(More about my extensive experience to be added very soon)

Guitar, Vocals, Harmonica, Drums (subject to availability), Songwriting, Audio Engineering, Theory & Improvisation lessons in South Sheffield. Effective understanding of improvisation enables players to enjoy jamming & performing live with more confidence. Greater understanding facilitates greater writing possibilities & greater ability to contribute to projects/bands. Much comes down to how we choose to listen, how we choose to interpret & how we can apply a practical understanding of theory & harmony. I approach guitar from a perspective of shapes, patterns & cycles. My aim is to provide aspiring players with the understanding & confidence to improvise, communicate & express with their instrument.
