Jack H., PhD., is an anthropologist exploring the borderlands of consciousness, religion and ecology. He is an Honorary Research Fellow with the Alister Hardy Religious Experience Research Centre, University of Wales Trinity Saint David, and a tutor at the Sophia Centre for the Study of Cosmology in Culture, University of Wales Trinity Saint David. He teaches on the MA in Ecology and Spirituality and the MA in Cultural Astronomy and Astrology. He is also a tutor for the Alef Trust on their MSc in Consciousness, Spirituality and Transpersonal Psychology, where he teaches on the Approaches to Consciousness module. He has been a teacher of Access to HE (Humanities and Social Sciences) for over five years, with expertise in sociology and psychology. His teacher training at the University of Chester was in Secondary Religious Education. He has published numerous papers and articles in academic and popular publications, and is the author of Manifesting Spirits (2020), Spirits, Gods and Magic (2020) and Ecology and Spirituality (2023). Terms and conditions
I pride myself on building up a good working relationship with my clients. Since tutoring is normally for a period of some months as examinations approach and in the interests of fair play for both parties, I've set out some key points regarding charges and cancellations during the tutoring period.
Charges
A-Level sessions are delivered online weekly via Teams in one-hour blocks. Charges reflect my qualifications, experience and the way my sessions are tailored to each individual student’s needs, making them highly effective at boosting learning, confidence and grades. Knowing all the misconceptions and pitfalls on content and structuring examination questions makes all the difference and it is vital that tutoring is effective for the student.
I am happy to offer each new client one free initial assessment and discussion session to assess the needs and type of help required plus it gives you a chance to see how I work and fit in with your requirements. There is no obligation on either side to continue after this first session.
Cancellations Policy
Once a regular slot has been booked for the student, the same time every week, I will endeavour always to be available to tutor them. There is scope for discussion if a session needs to be rearranged (24 hours requested), subject to my availability.
From time to time, flexibility on both sides is required due to life events and unexpected occurrences. This may involve cancellation of a particular session or the need to reschedule and I will always try to accommodate if I can do so.

I have been teaching for 13 years, working with a variety of students with different needs. I worked in London, before moving to Nottingham in July 2011. I am currently Head of Social Science and am teaching Psychology AQA and Sociology AQA, both at A level. I have met and trained with cheif examiners, so am confident in helping students to prepare for exams in these subjects. I'm currently working as the Head of Humanities at The Bourne Academy and have been teaching Edexcel and WJEC History for over 10 years locally. I've also worked as an exam associate for Edexcel for 6 years marking summer exams. I really enjoyed my lessons with Ms Meliz and they were very productive. I had taken sociolgy as a 4th subject in the last 6 months of my A2 course and joined Ms meliz 15 days before my exams. So I had to cover a 2 year course in a very short time and initially aimed for getting a B but because of her effective teaching style and precise notes I was able to aim for an A/A*. My situation was quite a unique one, I had contacted Meliz a couple weeks before my final A level exams and I was self-teaching both AS and A2 Sociology in 1 year. Due to my inability to travel, I was still able to get effective sessions via online lessons. From the beginning Meliz was very professional, she was able to work around my complex situation with a more intense approach. Furthermore, she dramatically condensed both AS and A2 in a concise way and helped me tremendously with exam practice.
