I am a highly experienced teacher, performer, composer and arranger, living and working in beautiful East Devon. I love and play music of all kinds. Clarinet, Saxophone and Flute are my favourites, as nothing feels closer to the human voice.
After a first class BA in music and a PGCE that specialised in instrumental teaching, I have taught continuously in Devon schools and privately at home for over thirty years.
I offer relaxed lessons to all ages, primary to adult. I believe in an individual approach, following your interests, providing materials to suit, and sharing your love of music. As a performer, I have experience of classical, jazz, folk, pop, soul and rock, and I teach improvisation and ear skills alongside reading. I am fully familiar with the music curriculum and often support it in my lessons. I also offer a full external exam service where appropriate, using the Trinity College syllabus.

Hi, I'm Mike, a North London-based Music Technology & Music Production tutor! I have over 7 years experience of teaching Music Technology & Production subjects in Secondary and Further Education, as well as weekend-based extra-curricular 'workshop' programmes. I''ve also spent the last 10 years working as a producer, remixer and DJ in the Dance music industry.
Needless to say, music is a huge passion of mine and I love to share it with other like-minded individuals, regardless of age or ability level. I always strive to contextualize and tailor my teaching to any specific interests of the individual-you! Music is a hugely personal pursuit and I want you to feel like you're developing in the areas, skills and/or musical styles that interest you. I like to keep my lessons active, fast-moving and real world-based, as I believe this inspires a more productive end result. Music Technology is an inclusive and accessible subject so I'll always 'scaffold' my lessons to ensure that any potential learning barriers are removed for you, and to ensure that you get the most from a lesson!
I have a breadth of experience in teaching Music Technology subjects at AS/ A-Level in-line with the Pearson Edexcel curriculums, as well as BTEC & Rock School Levels 1, 2, and 3. I've also taught GCSE Music in-line with the Edexcel, AQA and OCR syllabus', so I'm happy to help you with any production or DJ technology-based areas of your GCSE studies.

I have always been passionate about music. That passion has allowed me to travel the world, and I have met the greatest friends I could have hoped for all because of our shared interest in music. I have taught guitar in Sussex for 25 years, both privately and in schools, colleges and university. I help students with auditions, performances, music exams and just getting better at playing. Whether you want to learn classical guitar, electric guitar, acoustic guitar, bass guitar or ukulele, I have the knowledge and experience to ensure you can progress quickly.
I provide tuition for music theory and often contribute practical help and guidance for composing and song-writing.
