Experienced pianist, providing tuition for all ages at pupils homes, weekdays 11am to 7pm. My name is José María de Lucas Sacristán, though most know me as Chema Sacristán. I've been a professional drummer since 2004. I'd like to share a brief biography of my career in the U.K. In 2002, at 19, I realized my love for music and moved to Bristol, U.K., where I lived for four years. Bristol exposed me to all sorts of music, including rock, jazz, world music, and more. I played my first shows and worked with over five different local bands, gaining valuable experience. In 2006, I moved to London to study at Tech Music Schools, known as "Drum Tech," where I completed my higher education and earned a BMUS in Popular Music Performance (Hons), licensed by West London University. After completing my degree in 2011, I worked exclusively as a performing drummer and drum teacher, giving private lessons in my own studio, Oktopus Music Services, in North West London. In the past nine years, I've had the privilege of performing, recording, and writing with some of the best musicians in the London and U.K. scene, such as Kevin Glasgow (one of Europe's best bassists), Robin Banerjee (Amy Winehouse's guitarist), Roberto Manzin (Zucchero), Felipe Martíns (Emeterians), Juan Whist (The Voice National Spanish TV), and many others. I've showcased in most of London's live music venues and with the best U.K. and European entertainment agencies, such as Scarlett Entertainment, Full Stop Entertainment, and more. After 20 years of professional experience, I've decided to focus fully on teaching drums and performing. Difficult concepts are broken down in smaller ones through scaffolding using different techniques differentiated according to each child`s individual need. I am a Qualified Physics teacher, currently teaching in a state school. My tutoring approach is flexible moulding my teaching style according to students understanding. I listen to students and encourage them to speak and ask questions. (i) For School UNI students I have a deep understanding of the National Curricula from the different Boards, Aqua, Edexcel, Cambridge, and preparing students for University examinations, including UCL or Oxbridge. My experience gave me the ability to quickly spot the student's strengths and weaknesses. The result is that my students have all gained between B and A or A* or 9, at their A-level or GCSE exams, (I had just one student who was given a B, the others all gain A or A* or 9). However as importantly they are able to enjoy fluent speaking and a full understanding of the Italian Language.
(ii) For Adults and Professional students In tutoring adult and professional students I have developed a method which using authentic teaching material, such as New reading, or listening, songs or moves listening. This has allowed all of them to deal in Italian, to a mother tongue level, such as job interviews or giving presentation, or simply talking with Italians once in Italy
Learning a language is the process of understanding which involves all the fours apprehension skills of listening, writing, speaking, reading which makes the entire process a very effective means to train your brain, but most of all is an entire unique psychological and emotional experience. My teaching style in sessions would be demonstrating how to gain as many marks as possible with effective exam style answers. I have been working with all secondary school years, years 7 to 11, since 2017. I have an abundance of experiance with all abilities and levels in this age range. I have the ability to adapt my lessons for all students that I would tutor. I am highly experienced with GCSE exam preparation for both the higher and foundation papers. I have a bank of past papers that I will share with my students. I will be available for messages throughout the week, so students can message me with questions they may have. I will also tailor each session to the students specific needs and give my professional advice on what topics may need to be worked on. I have had several years experience teaching Classics in the UK and am now completing my MA in Classics alongside my full time work as a Classics teacher in south London. As a key member I have been developing our provision so we now offer A Level Classical Greek for the first time in several years! One of the areas I particularly enjoy working in is successfully supporting young students as they prepare for entrance exams with previous experience in particular for St Pauls Boys and Winchester College. If required, I can also provide lessons, tutoring, or general support in English and History, if needed.
My A Level classes of 2022 all scored highly in their exams - 100% A*s in Latin and 100% A-C in Classical Civiliation.
In 2023, my GCSE and A Level classes continued to excel despite the return to 2019 standards and reduction in exam support from the boards, and I am incredibly proud of them all:

I am a qualified teacher with QTS and long term experience in teaching Maths and geography KS 2-4. I am currently working as a Maths intervention teacher while also tutoring GCSE Geography privately, improving grades and pupil confidence. I am conversant with on-going changes in both the curriculums, exam requirements, mark schemes and the topics of study for foundation to higher level. I explain Maths in step by step detail, in order to remove learning gaps that hinder progress while delivering planned lessons based on continous assessment and pupil strength 'n weaknesses, for maximum betterment.
I teach Geography explaining not only the knowlege content but also subject specific vocabulary, answering strategies and exam techniques, using exam questions from past papers.
I am literate in Urdu and have prepared pupils for GCSE exams, in line with exam requirements, using prescribed vocabulary lists as well as past exam papers. I have taught Urdu language speaking skills to adults and children and have a collection of appropriate picture resources to help.
