After achieving QTS in 1999, I taught in several primary schools for five years, covering all ages (from Nursery to Year 6) and a wide range of abilities (from working towards level 1 up to level 6), in the full range of core and foundation subjects. However, having a predominantly financial/ numerical background, I decided to focus my teaching on mathematics and commenced teaching mathematics in secondary schools from September 2004, covering a wide range of abilities from below NC level 3 to GCSE Higher level.
From May 2007 to August 2019, I was employed by Kip McGrath (Keighley), tutoring students (during evenings and on Saturdays) in Maths (aged 6 to 18 years, at KS1 level up to GCSE Higher level), English (aged 6 to 11 years, at KS1 &2) and in verbal and non-verbal reasoning, in preparation for 11+ High School Entrance Exams. This involved supporting students in small groups working on individual, predominantly computer-based, learning programmes, to enable them to catch-up or improve their skills in specific areas, whilst working towards their personal targets/ goals, e.g. in KS2 SATs, 11+ Entrance Exams or GCSE exams. This experience inspired me to set up my own private tutoring business, which I have been running since April 2014, providing tuition to individual students in maths (aged 7 – 18+), English (ages 7-13), preparing students (aged 9/12) for local High School Entrance Exams and preparing adult learners for Functional Skills exams in both Literacy and Numeracy.
Having studied many courses covering a wide range of disabilities, including ASD, Dyslexia, ADHD and Sensory Processing Disorder, I believe I have a good understanding of, and empathy for, students with SEND and SEMH. To this end, I have taught many students with a range of learning difficulties/ barriers to learning and feel that I have made a considerable difference to each student’s enjoyment of mathematics and life-outcomes. I believe that my own enjoyment of learning enables me to encourage and motivate others to successfully engage in the learning process.
During the Covid-19 pandemic, I have delivered many lessons via Skype and Zoom and feel that I have become confident and competent in using these platforms for teaching students remotely and would be happy to continue to do so if required.
I always begin with a conversation to identify the areas where my students are struggling and tailor my lessons accordingly. This typically involves summarizing the topic and then using practice questions to reinforce understanding. However, I am flexible and can adapt my approach to suit your specific needs.
I always helped my peers when I was your age and I have also been tutoring GCSE Maths and science in a college for 3 years, during which I have gained valuable experience in the teaching field. My goal is to build a strong rapport with each of my students and develop personalized teaching methods to suit their individual learning styles. Having recently completed college, I have up-to-date knowledge of exam board techniques, which I aim to pass on to my students to help them succeed.
Additionally, I emphasize the importance of building confidence alongside academic skills. By creating a supportive and encouraging learning environment, I help students overcome their fears and anxieties related to maths and science. I believe that with the right guidance and practice, every student has the potential to excel.

I have over forty years' experience of private tuition to students aged 2 to adult. I have taught maths and English to all ages, including preparing students for entrance exams. I also teach science up to KS3. I have worked with those for whom English is not their first language, to help them improve their skills. I also have extensive experience of working with students with various kinds of special educational need such as autism, ADHD, delayed development, etc.
I take pride in creating a programme of work which addresses the needs of each individual and helps them to build their confidence as well as competence.

I have over 10 years experience in education. I am currently a primary school teacher and a Literacy Leader. I have taught in Year 6 for years and have a wealth of experience in preparing children for their SATs in KS2 and KS1. I am creative and ensure that my approaches are suitable for all. Throughout my time in schools I have come across a wide range of additional needs and put a lot of time into understanding the best approach to supporting the children with them in order to allow them to achieve the very best that they can. I have worked with a range of ages, and understand the Primary National Curriculum and how to teach it well due to this.
I tailor all of my sessions to the individual needs of the pupil, adjusting how content is covered based on their intrests and skills so that they can feel confident in themselves and their ability whilst reaching the milestones in their learning.

Hi, I'm Maanya and I am a Biomedical Science student at Lancaster University. I was tutored when I was younger and I would love to help you the way I was helped because it really participated a lot in my academic growth as a child and helping people is something I love to do in my free time or whenever. I have tutored children during lockdown online and in person after lockdown in maths english and even science and I am even a Grade 3 internationally certified yoga teacher and helped children and adults of all ages all around the world through yoga by teaching both the physical and the theory side of it. I have even taught indian classical dance to children for a while so teaching and caring for kids is something I am experienced in and love to do. Not only that, I am on the path of becoming a doctor, hopefully a paediatrician so helping and caring for kids is something I'd also love to make a career out of it. I am an international student currently undergoing a Beng, Meng in Mechanical Engineering. I have experience in maths and engineering as I have completed a preparatory class in France focused on those two particular subjects.
I am looking to help students learn and like those two subjects as they can be daunting and hard to grasp, but are fun to study and work in. My goal is to make people interested in those subjects and show them that solving puzzles can be fun if taught right.
I do not have much experience as a tutor per se, only helping my siblings and friends when they do not grasp certain notions but I easily adapt to the needs and requirements of those I am teaching and am able to see problems from different angles as to get to the root of the problem and find the explanation that better suits the student.
