I am a qualified Maths Teacher and an online Tutor. I use a variety of techniques and resources in order to teach and inspire minds. My name is Aisha and I am a qualified Primary School Teacher with an extensive amount of experience working with children, at primary level including EYFS. I am innovative, enthusiastic and always looking for alternative methods for key topics because I understand that children learn in different ways. Also, if children fully understand the basics by the end of year 6, it will give them a good and confident start in secondary school, which is where I will be able to help.
I am skilled particularly in English as I have studied it up to A Level, and I have always had a great passion for English. I have helped those who do not speak English as their first language to grasp the basics of the language in order to communicate effectively. I have a lot of experience in essay writing, including sentence structure, grammar and punctuation. I also have a lot of experience helping children with maths at primary level to ensure they grasp the fundamentals of numeracy in order to progress further.
I have been part of the humanity welfare trust for 1. 5 years. Humanity welfare trust was established by a group of eminent community leaders in 2017. Humanity Welfare Trust (HWT) is a leading non-governmental organizations in countries such as Turkey, Pakistan and India including its own headquarters in (Cheadle) Manchester which is dedicated to carrying out humanitarian and development programs to fight poverty and people’s sufferings. It has also been working in partnership with vulnerable communities regardless of faith, caste, gender or political beliefs. I have helped people ranging from old grandparents in care homes and cancer patients to helping children in schools and nurseries through the charity. This charity provides opportunities to help those who are suffering from illnesses so they can acquire medical care and support. I visited India in 2016 and saw the dire condition the poor are living. Furthermore many students have started to go school in India however the children who do attend school receive an inadequate education because of poorly trained or underpaid teachers, overcrowded classrooms and a lack of basic tools such as textbooks, blackboard, even chalk, pencil and paper. I have personally helped donate sanitation kits as well as thousands of water bottles to improve the lives of these innocent people.
I strongly believe that education provides the key for a better future, so these underprivileged people can increase their skills, fulfil their potential and pursue their goals. But millions of children across India are denied even basic education. As a charity we aim to provide impoverished communities with access to education or training, which offers them a way out of poverty. By working directly with local communities, we ensure that our educational projects are relevant to their needs.
My attendance is 100%.This is all due to me being extremely dedicated to school and not missing a single minute of learning. I strongly believe that each second should be valued because there are many people in this world who don’t even get the chance to appreciate that. My behaviour is impeccable due to me listening to every instruction the teacher gives and acting on it instantly. The evidence is me winning the student of the year award recently. This shows that by acting on the schools motto of ‘working hard’ and ‘being nice’ can result in you being rewarded.
Work experience/community work
I have done my work experience at Cooks mill (Manchester’s largest catering supplies.)
During my work experience at Cooks mill, I was fortunate enough to have gained a first-hand experience and learned, many different sides of what goes into a project, the general process of how a project is initially planned, developed and completed; as well as how much work and detail goes into every stage.
Another valuable lesson I have learned during these 12 weeks, were the many different types of work an employer has to perform, which in turn, have provided me with more insight into the different types of roles and responsibilities that I could perform as a Doctor working for the NHS.
Reflecting back to my first day at Cooks mill, it was one of the most memorable days of my
time at work. They were very open and happy for me to contribute as much as I wanted to, and were open to any suggestions and ideas. This instantly made me feel comfortable and definitely made me feel as though I was part of a team.
In Cooks mill there are surveyors, project supervisors and managers all
working under one roof. There is a large range of people who have different strengths and
qualifications and they work together and organise their work in sync with one another so
that work flows and they are able to complete their work efficiently in order to present it to
the client on time. This in turn, manages to help the workplace become better as a team and
therefore creates a good atmosphere in the working environment. This has then showed me how I will need to communicate with my peers in my future job.
Overall, my work experience at being director at the cksmill was productive and I was very resilient in times of difficulty and I was very happy with the amount of things that I have learned and experienced in the 12 weeks of being a student employee with the company. (This is something I did on the weekends)
In the wider community I am involved in cleaning the mosque and providing support for the elderly people. This is something which I do every Sunday (early morning) which shows my passion in helping the environment be a better and cleaner place. Furthermore I do karate every Sunday to build my self-confidence and most importantly helped me with discipline. I have done karate for many years and it has helped me with my self-esteem. One on my hobbies is to also tutoring my sister every week to improve my teaching and oral skills.
Biology, Maths, and Chemistry lessons in Leeds, UK.
Worked within primary schools for 5 years and tutored privately fir a year in english, math and science primary.
Maths lessons in Halifax, UK.
After achieving QTS in 1999, I taught in several primary schools for five years, covering all ages (from Nursery to Year 6) and a wide range of abilities (from working towards level 1 up to level 6), in the full range of core and foundation subjects. However, having a predominantly financial/ numerical background, I decided to focus my teaching on mathematics and commenced teaching mathematics in secondary schools from September 2004, covering a wide range of abilities from below NC level 3 to GCSE Higher level.
From May 2007 to August 2019, I was employed by Kip McGrath (Keighley), tutoring students (during evenings and on Saturdays) in Maths (aged 6 to 18 years, at KS1 level up to GCSE Higher level), English (aged 6 to 11 years, at KS1 &2) and in verbal and non-verbal reasoning, in preparation for 11+ High School Entrance Exams. This involved supporting students in small groups working on individual, predominantly computer-based, learning programmes, to enable them to catch-up or improve their skills in specific areas, whilst working towards their personal targets/ goals, www.*** in KS2 SATs, 11+ Entrance Exams or GCSE exams. This experience inspired me to set up my own private tutoring business, which I have been running since April 2014, providing tuition to individual students in maths (aged 7 – 18+), English (ages 7-13), preparing students (aged 9/12) for local High School Entrance Exams and preparing adult learners for Functional Skills exams in both Literacy and Numeracy.
Having studied many courses covering a wide range of disabilities, including ASD, Dyslexia, ADHD and Sensory Processing Disorder, I believe I have a good understanding of, and empathy for, students with SEND and SEMH. To this end, I have taught many students with a range of learning difficulties/ barriers to learning and feel that I have made a considerable difference to each student’s enjoyment of mathematics and life-outcomes. I believe that my own enjoyment of learning enables me to encourage and motivate others to successfully engage in the learning process.
During the Covid-19 pandemic, I have delivered many lessons via Skype and Zoom and feel that I have become confident and competent in using these platforms for teaching students remotely and would be happy to continue to do so if www.*** ;
I have spent the last year working in schools in Leeds attaining my PGCE, meaning I am currently very close with current pedagogical techniques and the workings of live teaching and the consequences of Covid-19 on schools and disruptions to www.*** ;
I have taught history predominantly to KS3, and have had a lot of experience in classrooms with students from challenging backgrounds and have also worked a lot with students with English as an additional language. As a result, I have focused a lot of my reading around strategies for working with students with lower English aquisition.
I am able to provide full lessons, aid with revision, catch up and homework help, as well as exam skills and help with writing essays. I will amend these to your needs, and want to work with you to help you make progress.
Feel free to contact me for more information.
