I am a qualified Maths Teacher and an online Tutor. I use a variety of techniques and resources in order to teach and inspire minds. I am fully DBS cleared and have taught through the changes in education over the years and am fully knowledgeable in the current 9-1 GCSE specification. I am comfortable teaching all walks of learners and try my 100% best to make sure that learning is relevant, engaging and fun.
I have a plethora of resources so that students hit their target grade or beyond. In my experience, students tend look at questions as a big problem rather than thinking that questions are made up of smaller steps within a problem. Each student will receive an individual plan at the start of lesson one.
I am also a GCSE Expert Examiner for Edexcel, marking both Foundation and Higher Maths. I also teach at Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 2.
I am able to teach online and comfortably at your home, however, due to the current situation with COVID, I prefer to teach online. I use a Huoin pen and tablet with an onscreen whiteboard. I will provide full resources; questions, answers, solutions and exam papers relevant to your exam specification. I teach all topics in Maths and keep up to date with any new developments with exam boards.
I have been a Middle Leader, a Lead Practitioner, a Director of Learning, and have led successful STEM classes and am passionate about the subjects surrounding Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths. I also run a debate team at my current school; have been a finalist at The University of Leeds three consecutive years with “Solutions for the Planet” programme and have taken students as finalists at The Houses of Parliament with a solution on sustainability.

After achieving QTS in 1999, I taught in several primary schools for five years, covering all ages (from Nursery to Year 6) and a wide range of abilities (from working towards level 1 up to level 6), in the full range of core and foundation subjects. However, having a predominantly financial/ numerical background, I decided to focus my teaching on mathematics and commenced teaching mathematics in secondary schools from September 2004, covering a wide range of abilities from below NC level 3 to GCSE Higher level.
From May 2007 to August 2019, I was employed by Kip McGrath (Keighley), tutoring students (during evenings and on Saturdays) in Maths (aged 6 to 18 years, at KS1 level up to GCSE Higher level), English (aged 6 to 11 years, at KS1 &2) and in verbal and non-verbal reasoning, in preparation for 11+ High School Entrance Exams. This involved supporting students in small groups working on individual, predominantly computer-based, learning programmes, to enable them to catch-up or improve their skills in specific areas, whilst working towards their personal targets/ goals, e.g. in KS2 SATs, 11+ Entrance Exams or GCSE exams. This experience inspired me to set up my own private tutoring business, which I have been running since April 2014, providing tuition to individual students in maths (aged 7 – 18+), English (ages 7-13), preparing students (aged 9/12) for local High School Entrance Exams and preparing adult learners for Functional Skills exams in both Literacy and Numeracy.
Having studied many courses covering a wide range of disabilities, including ASD, Dyslexia, ADHD and Sensory Processing Disorder, I believe I have a good understanding of, and empathy for, students with SEND and SEMH. To this end, I have taught many students with a range of learning difficulties/ barriers to learning and feel that I have made a considerable difference to each student’s enjoyment of mathematics and life-outcomes. I believe that my own enjoyment of learning enables me to encourage and motivate others to successfully engage in the learning process.
During the Covid-19 pandemic, I have delivered many lessons via Skype and Zoom and feel that I have become confident and competent in using these platforms for teaching students remotely and would be happy to continue to do so if required.

I have over forty years' experience of private tuition to students aged 2 to adult. I have taught maths and English to all ages, including preparing students for entrance exams. I also teach science up to KS3. I have worked with those for whom English is not their first language, to help them improve their skills. I also have extensive experience of working with students with various kinds of special educational need such as autism, ADHD, delayed development, etc.
I take pride in creating a programme of work which addresses the needs of each individual and helps them to build their confidence as well as competence.
I work at my own home, the student's home if not too far away or online using Zoom.

I have successfully completed the Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) in Bradford College (Via University of Bolton), with a degree qualification of second class first honours. I believe I possess the necessary attributes to provide a successful contribution in today’s education www.*** ;
My passion for Teaching has been enriched through my study of the field and work experience. I find working with children intellectually stimulating and relish the variety and challenges faced on a daily basis. Working under pressure motivates me to strive for success and I am able to effectively apply logic and problem-solving ability to complex as well as simple problems in a stimulating environment, whether in a team or using my own www.*** ;
I firmly believe that education helps children to prosper and reach higher levels of attainment, not only do they receive academic knowledge whilst studying but gain important life skills. This can be used outside of the classroom, I believe education is an essential stage of life everyone must go through.
I have gained valuable experience in tutoring, teaching assistant, prep-work and am naturally confident that my skills and personal style are invaluable to successfully completing the PGCE course and subsequently become a successful teacher.
My experiences have enabled me to develop a variety of transferable skills. Studying PGCE Primary has provided me with foundation of basic knowledge and skills; such as researching, with attention to detail and the ability to analyse. I have learnt to be adaptable and flexible to reflect changes in working practice. Furthermore, my voluntary work and tutoring has given me the opportunity to work with a diverse range of children and build my connection with the children i work with therefore i would like to continue my experience in tutoring and provide students with the extra help that they are seeking www.*** ;

I am an international student currently undergoing a Beng, Meng in Mechanical Engineering. I have experience in maths and engineering as I have completed a preparatory class in France focused on those two particular subjects.
I am looking to help students learn and like those two subjects as they can be daunting and hard to grasp, but are fun to study and work in. My goal is to make people interested in those subjects and show them that solving puzzles can be fun if taught right.
I do not have much experience as a tutor per se, only helping my siblings and friends when they do not grasp certain notions but I easily adapt to the needs and requirements of those I am teaching and am able to see problems from different angles as to get to the root of the problem and find the explanation that better suits the student.
I can teach both online or in person as I am fully vaccinated, but I will keep a mask on as we never are too safe.

I have spent the last year working in schools in Leeds attaining my PGCE, meaning I am currently very close with current pedagogical techniques and the workings of live teaching and the consequences of Covid-19 on schools and disruptions to www.*** ;
I have taught history predominantly to KS3, and have had a lot of experience in classrooms with students from challenging backgrounds and have also worked a lot with students with English as an additional language. As a result, I have focused a lot of my reading around strategies for working with students with lower English aquisition.
I am able to provide full lessons, aid with revision, catch up and homework help, as well as exam skills and help with writing essays. I will amend these to your needs, and want to work with you to help you make progress.
Feel free to contact me for more information.

Firstly, we offer a free assessment. An assessment in English and maths takes around one and a half hours to complete. At the end of that time we’ll be in a position to tell you where your son’s / daughter’s strengths and weaknesses lie.
If you decide to enrol, we tutor in 80 minute blocks, during that time students will complete about 6 – 8 activities, some on the computer and some using the written curriculum resources we have.
We design an individual program for each of our students and aim it at their level of understanding to improve them as quickly as they can manage.
We tutor in small groups with a maximum of five in a group. However, we don’t teach them as a group, as each child has different needs and will be at a different stage, so they are all taught one to one and the tutor gives individual support and feedback on their work throughout the session. This promotes independent learning and gives the children time to think through what they are currently working on.
All our sessions are delivered in our dedicated centre, which provides a safe environment without the distractions that can be a drawback to delivering tuition at home.
We charge £31 for an 80 minute session, which is £23. 25 per hour comparatively.
Because we are Ofsted registered we can accept childcare vouchers, or Working Tax Credits can be used against the fees.
We run sessions on Tuesday to Friday at 4:00pm, 5:30pm and 7:00pm and on Sundays at 9:00am, 10:30am and 12 noon.
I would be very pleased to hear from you should you wish to book a free assessment.

Originally in Mirfield, the K. Centre opened in December 2002. We quickly established an enviable reputation locally as a centre of excellence, not only for helping children who are struggling at school but also for those who are not being challenged and for those preparing for SAT's, GCSE and Grammar School entrance exams (particularly for Heckmondwike and Halifax Grammar Schools). We are conveniently located in Beehive Business Park, just outside the town centre, and have ample free parking available. Judith Shaw is a fully qualified teacher with a passion for helping children of all ages and abilities to achieve their full potential. She has hand picked a team of caring, fully qualified teachers who have a wealth of experience and share her passion for teaching excellence. We are registered with OFSTED on the voluntary part of the childcare register.

Every one of our tutors is a trained professional with a deep passion for education. Our tutors are all qualified, holding qualifications that vary from at least a degree in their teaching subject, to Qualified Teacher Status. They are all DBS checked and have passed our in-house Tutor Training Program to make sure they are meeting the Smart Kids standard of service. In addition to this, thorough management routinely examines the consistent quality of the tutor’s performance through a range of assessments. These check the tutor’s contents and quality of delivering the curriculum, ambitions for student achievements, quality of lesson planning, report cards and certificates; as well as their ability to provide leadership, vision and direction for their students. Smart Kids is committed to meeting the tutor’s training needs to keep these standards high.

I have worked as a Primary School teacher in Harrogate for 5 years now, based primarily in KS2 but I do also have experience of working with Year 1 and 2 children. I have previously tutored children ranging from Year 3 to Year 7, mainly focusing on maths and English consolidation. I am, however, confident tutoring in all areas of the primary curriculum.
I am happy to do home visits or tutor virtually via Skype or Zoom. In previous tutoring positions, I have often worked to compliment the topics being taught in school to pre-teach, consolidate or boost confidence but I am also happy to assess the needs of the children and tailor sessions based on any areas of development.

I have been teaching for 10 years in Harrogate. My passion lies in the fun, play based learning, which engages children and accelerates learning. Our learning will take place outside as much as possible. Before sessions commence, I will have a detailed discussion with the child's parents, to gather as much information as possible, and so that I can tailor our learning to a theme which suits a child's interest.
