Having completed A level Physics Maths and Chemistry and being an avid musician, I have experience in tackling a variety of subjects within these fields.
My ethos with tutoring is to work alongside my students, understanding each of their unique needs and tailoring their lesson to be as productive as possible.
When studying for my own GCSEs, I witnessed many of my peers struggling to comprehend some of the abstract concepts being taught. Consequently, I began to lead a revision group for several of my subjects; sharing my own knowledge and methods with my peers. These sessions showed to me how fulfilling teaching students can be, knowing you've helped someone reach their full potential. As a result, I was able to achieve an A in several of my subjects, including Maths, Physics, Chemistry and Biology.
Studying music formally and singing for 4 years has provided me with a wealth of experience in singing, performance, songwriting and the mechanics of the voice. I encourage my students to find their own style in a safe yet engaging manner whilst improving their formal technique.
I believe when introduced to a new concept the student needs to tackle a problem in a way that they understand. By providing my students with as many tools to face the problem at hand, I believe this is where I make an impact.
Let me help you achieve your full potential!

Using my knowledge and experience of having taught all ages of the Primary Curriculum - from Nursery to Primary 7 - along with my passion for working with children, I strive to provide the very best level of teaching and learning for every individual I work with. I believe that building solid basic foundations in Literacy and Numeracy gives children the tools to access the wider curriculum with confidence. Tapping into and understanding the ways in which each individual child learns and progresses is key. Every child is an individual, therefore every lesson is tailored to the child, ensuring the right balance of success and challenge is met in each session, thus developing knowledge, skills and most importantly confidence for the child. Getting to know children and building a rapport with each individual is paramount, as is understanding the way in which the each child learns best - through active learning, written methods, talking, listening, reading, watching, doing. The initial tutorial session will be exploratory, consulting with parents to discuss the child’s requirements and areas needing more support and development. I use a variety of resources during tutorial sessions to aid and reinforce teaching points - for example, magnetic alphabetic letters and boards; flash cards; Dienes hundreds, tens and units cubes; Numicon; Seal Maths; Jolly Phonics; Oxford Reading Tree books; Read, Write, Inc resources; Schofield & Sims and CGP workbooks. Each tutorial session starts with a welcoming ‘check-in’ as to how the child is feeling that day and how their day has been, so that I can gauge the expectation for the session. I usually ask if there is anything in particular that the child wants to work on during the session - for example, there may be something that has been introduced in class at school that day/week that the child found confusing or difficult and wants specific help with or further explanation. I would then suggest a plan and learning intention / goal for our tutorial session that day. Teaching would then take the form of practical, written and oral work, ensuring understanding and comprehension as the lesson progresses. The pace of the lesson is very much tailored by my professional judgement and intuition as to how the child is responding and interpreting the work we are doing. A plenary at the end of the session to recap what we have worked on during that session and ensure understanding, is always extremely valuable. In consultation with parents, some request homework for their children, which I am happy to assign and mark. Weekly sessions are most successful, ensuring continuity and progression at a greater pace.

I tutor remotely in all the above subjects, Handwriting (Modern manuscript), and Yoruba language.
Sounds, scents, and sweets are my muses; I use music and trending topics to spice up my teaching sessions. I use the principles of neuroscience to ensure mastery in my learners.
My enthusiasm and joie d'vivre are infectious.

At secondary school I already loved maths and to a lessor extent science as questions always had definitive solutions which were not dependant on a teacher’s opinion or beliefs. I initially found it exciting to be able to consistently find the correct answer then to tackle increasing more difficult problems. I found that there was a consistency to maths which meant once you understood the topic difficult problems could be solved in a similar way to simpler ones. I was lucky I grew up in a place and with a family who were of an engineering background so a STEM career for me made sense to them but I was aware of many of my peers whose parents and friends steered them away from STEM due to gender. My engineering career has taken me to offshore oilfields, onshore drilling pads and LNG plants all male dominated environments but they do not need to be. During my career in energy I have found myself complimented by my managers and mentors on my ability to make clear and concise presentations and explanations a skill which I transfer to my teaching. I have used this ability to support pupils with difficulty in maths and who have gone on to achieve better secondary certificates than was predicted when they left primary school. Maths is a subject where a toolbox of tools is taught which are them applied in problem solving to increase analytical ability. Each tool mastered can increase a student’s confidence in their ability to master the rest and then to solve increasingly complex problems. .

We are a professional tutoring service, led by students, for students. We are currently delivering our sessions online and in-person. We cover Maths, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, English and Languages.
Introduction from Director, Emily:
I am the director of www.*** I have been tutoring privately since 2017 during which I have helped over 50 students through various stages of education with differing abilities. I have worked privately advertising locally and also for a tuition agency where I was able to take on group sessions. I specialise in National 5 maths (everyone has a favourite!) but I'm well equipped and happy to help students at Primary level onwards with maths, English and science.
Alongside, I am studying for my Masters Degree in Chemical Engineering. I also Chair a Female Engineer and Science Network called Watt Women. I actively promote Science, Technology and Engineering subjects and frequently visit primary schools and provide free workshops to encourage students to become more engaged!
