I am a qualified teacher with more than 15 years of experience teaching at home and abroad. I am a member of the Tutors' Association (UK) and a registered member of the Teachers' Regulatory Council of Nigeria. I have undergone training and education in various fields of educational research including Assessment for Learning, health and safety, pedagogy, safeguarding, inclusion and diversity, teaching and learning, and SEMH.
My approach is flexible and my lessons are adapted to meet individual needs. I adopt a student-centred strategy in teaching and utilise several methods to model, assess and support my students. I completed my secondary science PGCE in 2015. I am a Biology specialist, however, I have good subject knowledge and experience of teaching in all three sciences. I am also highly adaptable. I have taught across key stage 3 and key stage 4, including year 11 groups who I taught physics, chemistry and biology. I have been included in general CPD in schools and also in departmental moderation of marking across GCSE. I have taught at several Sheffield schools including High Storrs, Sheffield Park Academy, Sheffield Springs Academy, Birley Community College, Firth Park Academy and Forge Valley School. I have been tutoring for several years and I teach science, geography and maths GCSE both higher and foundation level. I've taught the content for AQA, Edexcel and OCR exam boards. I also tutor 6th form students in both year 12 and 13 at Biology A Level. I have tutored students through university foundation courses for healthcare and education degree courses. I can also tutor maths and science for university GCSE equivalency exams. Science and maths education is something I have always been passionate about and I try to encourage students to share this passion. It is vital to ensure that all students receive the best education possible and it is my belief that they should receive it in a caring and supportive environment. I refuse to believe that any student cannot succeed in a subject, especially something as versatile and flexible as science and maths, there is always a way to get through to any student. While this is more of a personal belief, I have yet to see anything to the contrary. I have been involved with extra-curricular activities; film club, lunch and break duties, corridor patrols and form activities. I have also received weekly training sessions by specialists in school on teaching both SEN and EAL students and improving my own pedagogy.
I am currently a PhD Student in Computing at Sheffield Hallam University (SHU), also to start work as a Graduate training assistant in the Computing department at SHU. I possess a master's degree with Distinction in Computer Science. Prior to the commencement of my PhD at SHU, I'd worked as a lecturer in Computer Science in a Nigerian public University for 9 years teaching a range of undergraduate Computer Science courses that cut across Computer programming, Artificial intelligence, Operations research, Mathematics for Computer Science and Web programming. I also garnered a 1-year experience teaching Mathematics and Computer studies in a Nigerian public secondary school where I prepared the students for WAEC exams. I must attest that they performed excellently.
I have been working in IT industry more than 17 years. I got a lot of joy from working and teaching at the same time. I have 1o years teaching experience in IT.
