For twenty years we have been preparing students for A-level and GCSE examinations and helping them to achieve the best grades possible. We cover all traditional academic subjects but specialize in the core subjects of Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Mathematics. We provide:
– resit courses to improve grades for those who have underachieved at A-level;
– after-school and weekend tuition for those who need additional help with their studies at school;
– full-time A-level courses for students who feel the traditional school environment is no longer for them;
– GCSE courses and tuition;
– support for students applying to Oxford or Cambridge, or for highly competitive courses such as Medicine, Dentistry, and Veterinary Medicine. As well as helping them achieve the grades, we can help with interview practice and with aptitude tests such as the UKCAT and the BMAT, and both the TSA Oxford, and TSA Cambridge;
– revision courses during vacations and at weekends.

Personal Trainer, Coach, Instructor
Hello, my name is Megan and I am the founder of Mind Over Matter Fitness and Nutrition. My main role is currently as a personal trainer; however, my original training is as a nutritionist. I graduated in 2006, from Oxford Brookes University with a 1st class honours in Food Science and Nutrition. I have always had a passion for nutrition, but initial more as a chef, working in a small restaurant for 4 years. I graduated and worked for 6 years in the research field, specialising in Glycaemic Index, Insulinemic Index and Weight Loss. My experiences in research enable me to provide my clients with up-to-date and reliable scientific advice which is proven to work.
Although I have always been an active person I have never been someone that has ever been 'sporty'. I hated PE at school and would do anything to get out of it!! My interest in physical activity and exercise started approximately 17 years ago when my mum was diagnosed with osteoporosis, as such she was told to undertake weight bearing activity. So, in support mum I took up running. I can honestly say that for the first 3 weeks I hated it, I moaned constantly and dreaded every session. Suddenly week 4 seemed easier and I could start to see changes in my body shape, I think this was the moment I was addicted to exercise!
From these humble beginnings I have gone from running 10 mins three times a week to regularly competing in multi-day ultra-marathon events and strength training. I have always been an average runner, however, through sensible training and eating I am proud to say that in May 2017 I came 3rd Female in a 97 mile, 3-day ultra-marathon. This passion for my own training has helped me to become a personal trainer and share my passion for exercise and nutrition with my clients.
I love nothing more than to see people achieve their goals, have fun training and most importantly find a greater confidence in themselves and go on to achieve what they never believed possible.

English is the love of my life. I believe that every child can be taught to write creatively and to enjoy reading. Learning English is not just about passing eleven plus exams. It is about learning how to communicate effectively, whether that is transporting your reader to another world or winning someone over to your point of view. Children will prepare for all types of writing and reading comprehension as demanded by different schools for the eleven plus. Drawing on an extensive bank of materials, I tailor the tuition to suit your child’s strengths and weaknesses. I place a strong emphasis on spelling, punctuation, grammar and vocabulary through a varied mix of games and activities. I focus on exam technique using past and practice 11+/pre-test papers and offer advice on interview preparation. My aim is to make what can sometimes be a challenging process an enjoyable one. All my students are well prepared and confident when they sit their entrance exams and are able to tackle all types of eleven plus exam format with ease. They gain places at their chosen schools. English lessons in Wantage, UK. My deep hope is that I will have inspired a love of English language and literature that will last beyond the exams and into the future.

I have been a private tutor for nearly six years for multiple companies - both in person and online. I have hosted exchange programmes to help students with English as a foreign language. I have helped to run summer schools. I have been educated at two Russell Group universities: my undergraduate degree in English Literature and History was acquired from the University of Exeter, while my postgraduate degree in English PGCE with QTS was acquired from the University of Oxford. I have been teaching English in a state comprehensive school for nearly four years, in which I have taught/still am teaching KS3 English, GCSE English (both Language and Literature), and A Level English Language and Literature (all with AQA). I specialise in teaching English to any secondary aged students; however, I have experience in teaching the eleven plus and am also able to help KS2 students with preparation for English at secondary school. I could tutor locally in Witney; however, due to my long working hours, online tutoring is preferable.

Learning a subject is much easier if you're enthusiastic about it, and I can't imagine a more exciting area of law than intellectual property. I have helped dozens of students not only pass their exams but become real enthusiasts for the subject - and many of them are now working in the area. As well as private tuition, I was module leader for IP at Nottingham Law School part-time and I have taught at a number of other universities. I'm very familiar with the University of London International Programme IP module, but happy to help students doing other courses.
I have been a part-time lecturer at London Guildhall University, where I obtained my MA and PhD part-time (1993-9), Essex University (1992-4), Oxford Institute of Legal Practice (1997-9), Nottingham Law School and Russian State University of Justice, where I taught students doing the University of London International course (2011-18). I am the author of several textbooks and many articles, and I produce recorded lectures and other material to help students of intellectual property.

My experience, training and approach to teaching make me a perfect fit forthe tutoring children I believe that my beliefs in exploring,experimenting and challenge as a way of revealing students’ unique talents and successand this is one of my main reasons for applying for this position as a tutor.
My two main passions in life are nurturing and creating art. The second is working with youngpeople to help them get the most out of the creation process as well and to feel the joy which I dowhen I make Art. From a young age, it was very clear to me that I would pursue a career as an Artist.
After gaining my University degree and having completed two diplomas in art and design from two of London’s best art schools where I developed my painting practice, I was ready to begin my careeras an Artist.
After my training, I had my first solo exhibition, I sold out of all thirty paintings which I spent one year creating. For some time, I enjoyed continued success and had multiple exhibitions, both Group and Solo and soon after I realised that I wanted to share my skills and passion. Since I have always enjoyed working with young people had previously worked part time in a Preschool as an Art Specialist, I decided to join a private tutoring agency in London, students would come to my studio inLondon and I would support them through their GCSE’s. Having enjoyed working with slightly older students so much, I decided to apply for an Artist in residence position at Garden House School in London.
At this point I had enjoyed teaching students from EYSF through to Key Stage 3 to 4 as well as myexperience giving ‘mindfulness art workshops‘ to adults in London’s members clubs; a programme I ran independently in a quest inspire young adults to maintain their wellbeing through the process of abstract painting.
I have thoroughly enjoyed all my teaching experiences thus far, the combination of being an artist,working with very young children where playfulness is at the heart of development and up to GCSEwhen students are thinking about pursuing a career in this wonderful subject. It became moreapparent that a job as an Art teacher where I could continue to apply and develop my creativity,motivation and ambition was perfectly suited to me.
Upon this discovery, I have begun to invest some more time and energy into helping work, after myposition as an artist in residence at garden House Primary School in London I began a counselling course which was online as a result of COVID 19, I also qualified as an Art Therapy Coach. I now look forward to using all my experince both as a professional exhibiting ar and teacher and helping children in develop and grow their artistic capabilities in the wonderful subject of Art.

About Me: Experience & Interests
Having qualified as a teacher in 2004, I have been teaching at Secondary level (including A Level) for 16 years. My first two years in the profession were spent teaching in Bassaleg School in Newport before moving to Oxfordshire 14 years ago, to teach in a comprehensive school in Abingdon. In 2008, I became Head of English, a role I held for 6 years prior to having children. I have been tutoring privately for the past 6 years, with tutees ranging from Year 5 to Year 11. My area of interest and expertise for tutoring has mainly focused on KS4, but I also have experience in tutoring younger students for their Year 6 SATS Exam and for the 13+ Grammar School examination. In my role as Head of English, I oversaw Literacy across the Curriculum Interventions and Developments as well as mentoring trainee interns and delivering professional development sessions to newly qualified teachers. As a mentor for the PGCE teacher-training course at The University of Oxford, I have also regularly assisted the university in interviewing applicants for their course. As an examiner for AQA Literature, I have had training in understanding the requirements of the new 2015 specification, as well as three years’ experience of grading exam scripts. I am also an assessor for the National Foundation for Educational Research, an independent provider of research in education. I have experience in teaching various exam boards including AQA, WJEC, Edexcel and IGCSE. In my spare time, I enjoy playing the violin and piano, going to the gym, swimming and skiing.

Approaches to Tutoring
Different students require different approaches to learning and so I work hard to tailor my sessions according to the needs of the student. In addition to one-to-one online tutoring, I also offer paired tuition (with someone of a similar age and ability) and small group tuition (Maximum of 6 per class). I offer term-time and holiday lessons: one-off sessions, short term or long term according to the needs of the student. Please send me a message if you would like further information and prices. Some areas that I normally focus on include:
· GCSE specimen and past paper questions
· Focus on a specific text/question
· Controlled Assessments / Coursework / Essays – planning, writing, proof-reading
· Achieving a Grade 4/5
· Achieving a Grade 8/9
· Analysis of set texts
· Addressing individual Assessment Objectives
· Any aspect of KS2 and KS3 Literacy including Year 6 SATS preparation

I have been teaching primary for 4 years now and am greatly enjoying it. I have taught the entirety of KS2 during this time and have experience teaching KS1 also. During my most recent year, I taught year six and supported pupils through their SATs. Pupils achieved a 100% pass mark for the reading paper with 42% achieving the greater depth standard. Pupils also scored highly in grammar and 81% achieved the expected standard in this subject. In maths, 42% of pupils achieved the greater depth standard in 2022-2023.
