KS2 Maths, English, history and geography teacher in Birmingham, UK. I have vast experience teaching KS2 classes in Birmingham and have the ability to assess a child's understanding and skills development used by various teachers. This helps me to establish prior learning, move the learning, and deepen learning. I do understand that children learn concepts and skills at different paces and therefore have the capacity to allow each individual child to develop at his or her pace. Depsite my relatively short tutoring experience, I believe that my greatest asset as a tutor is my age; being a student myself, I understand that relatability and informality are key in creating engaging, beneficial and professional sessions. A further benefit of this is that my understanding of the knowledge required to succeed leading up to GCSE exams is still fresh, and I have retained a number of helpful tips, tricks and methods from my time as a GCSE student that I would love to pass on to the next generation of students.
I give my students the freedom to direct the session themselves, focusing only on topics that they lack confidence in, as the relationship is mutual; my students trust me, and so I trust them. My first introductory session is always completely free, allowing both students and their parents to decide on whether or not my tutoring style is for them without the fear of wasting money. It's only natural; you wouldn't buy a car without driving it first.
I hope that my age and short time as a tutor is less an indicator of amateurism and more a sign of energy, enthusiasm and dedication from a student who believes strongly that the path to academic success doesn't have to be a www.*** ;
