I am a well qualified and experienced teacher of Modern Foreign & Classical Languages with over 30 years experience teaching in local State and Independent Schools and in adult and further education colleges. I have taught French, German, Spanish, Italian, Classics and Latin from Key Stage 3 through to A- Level and am a GCSE examiner for the Pearson Edexcel exam board. I am a Member of the Chartered Institute of Linguists.
In my lessons, my goal is to teach you, with fun, humour and encouragement, how to use language confidently in listening, speaking, reading and writing and of course backing this up with a very sound knowledge of those building blocks called grammar. In Latin, the grammar based language study is backed up with a fun and detailed look at the historical period and the set texts. We all have differing learning needs and goals which are worked out well in advance of the first lesson so that the approach is tailor made for you so that you ultimately find the learning experience a rewarding and enjoyable one. When teaching , I use my experience of being an examiner to show you what the exam paper is really asking for and how you can ensure you get the marks and ,quite easily, exceed target. Just ask any of my former pupils! I am very friendly, patient and approachable, always encouraging with a strong belief that bit by bit you will succeed in whichever goal you have made for yourself?

I am a committed, enthusiastic and friendly tutor/mentor with 30 years of teaching experience and up to date knowledge of teaching methods. Since graduating from the University or Reading in 1992, I have taught in a variety of Norfolk schools - both primary and secondary (including an American school here in the U. K.). I have a proven track record of improving pupil achievement in maths and am able to offer tailor-made tuition to meet individual pupil needs - whether the student is struggling to keep up at school, developing confidence or preparing for exams.
Home Educated children I am happy to work with home educators and their children. As home educating families often have very individual requirements, please get in contact if you would like to discuss options for daytime sessions. I enjoy teaching German and French and am based in Clapham in South London. I teach ONLINE ONLY - it works very well for one-to-one lessons and avoids the problems inherent in getting to a venue! It also means that you can take your lessons, even when you're away from home.
I have a PGCE (Post-graduate teaching certificate in Education) in German and French. I have been tutoring for the last 8 years, with considerable successes among my GCSE students, who all improve by several grades - usually mostly to Level 8's and 9's.
I am bi-lingual in German and speak excellent French. I conduct lessons in French or German right form the start. Adult learners are very welcome: I teach adult students who work for overseas companies, have German or French partners, or need to pass language exams in order to live and work abroad.

How long have I been teaching for?
I taught for 10 years at University Sydney in Australia German as Foreign Language for all Levels. Since I found most passion in teaching 1-on-1 sessions , as I really can connect with the learner and help achieve their dreams, I started to teach fully independently a year ago (from June 2017) and since then I am preparing learners from all over the world for German Language exams, teaching business German within Companies through Webinars or teaching German for leisure.
