My background is in environmental biology.
I love experimental science and ecology. My current students say that I make online lessons really interesting.
I have many many years experience working with learners in the secondary school context and other contexts, such as scouting, waste education, and with my own children, now 13 and 20.
I have successfully tutored students who struggle with school, or are having problems with their confidence.

I have been coaching and mentoring for over 10 years and teaching for 6. I have a strong ability to motivate students academically and personally. At present, I am working with the AQA specification for GCSE and A-level - as such will be sticking to this within tutoring (I will not tutor OCR, WJEC or EDEXCEL - sorry). My specialism in tutoring approach is working with large amounts of information (making it stick with memory strategies) as well as developing stronger essay and argument skills. The core theories of the subject are revisited regularly and with emphasis. At minimum, I will tutor over a term - this will give enough time to build confidence in a skill, topic area or revision strategies.
I have had extensive experience in the state and private sector, in co-educational, all boy and all girls schools. I have taught in Bristol, Singapore, Melbourne and London. I have taught Year 7-Year 13 and taught a range of GCSE exam boards, as well as A Level, IB and VCE (Australia).
