I am a Modern Foreign Languages Graduate with several years of experience teaching both French and Spanish to A level (AQA and EDEXCEL). I am used to working with a wide range of students from lower to higher ability and have an open and direct approach to teaching and learning.
After working as an Au-Pair in France and spending a year teaching in Spain I went onto work in business as a Spanish Market Analyst. Throughout my career in Publishing, I frequently used French and Spanish whilst presenting or in international business negotiations. I speak French and Spanish fluently and Spanish on a daily basis and believe that languages are essential in today's working environment - not just as a communication tool but to better understand different cultures and societies.
At present, I teach in a Grammar School across all key stages.

¡Hola! I am Alexandra, a Spanish born and bred teacher based in England. My passion for languages made me become an MFL teacher gaining my PGCE at the university of Sussex. I see languages as something alive, therefore, my lessons will immerse my students in a fun, dynamic and interactive environment where learning languages will always be a pleasure, not a task. With me you will learn about both the language and the culture of the different Spanish speaking countries. I can teach Spanish to any level, from academic, to Spanish for holidays or for business people. I also teach French up to GCSE or intermediate level, English as a second language and English grammar up to GCSE. I have a lot of experience in language acquisition, and will be able to help you achieve your language goals in English, French or Spanish at any level. My background is very diverse, and I have lived in Chile, France, South Korea, Spain, and Kazakhstan over the course of my life, gaining an understanding of the linguistic structures and grammatical rules of 6 languages throughout the process. I am thus very well equipped to teach you how to understand grammar in simple terms, and I have a wealth of experience with regard to memorising vocabulary.
After achieving a grade of 40/45 in the IB, I began a degree in BA French and Philosophy at UCL, graduating with first class honours and spending a year studying French Literature at the Sorbonne in Paris under some of the greatest minds in the field. I then taught English for a year in South Korea, during which time I gained a TOPIK (Test of Proficiency in Korean) qualification after only having studied the language for 5 months, and acquired significant expertise in working with students of all levels. I then moved to Barcelona to complete my masters degree, before completing an exchange in Kazakhstan, where I did field research with Russian draft-dodgers for an award-winning masters dissertation that has since been published. My English language writing skills are excellent, and I have a wealth of knowledge on foreign affairs, global history and literature across a number of languages.
