When I came to the UK, I was a French conversation assistant for A level French at the Coopers Company and Coborn School in Upminster (10 years). I then decided to qualify as a teacher. I am a qualified and experienced native French speaker (from Belgium) and I hold QTS and PGCE. I have been teaching all levels (KS3, GCSE, A level). I tailor my lessons to the learner`s objectives and needs, always starting at each person`s level. I am very caring and approachable and will always aim at developing the learner`s confidence. I am convinced that if the learner feels confident, comfortable and relaxed, learning will be at its best. I know the requirements of AQA, Edexcel and Eduqas exam boards and have a wide range of resources, activities, games to cater for various learning styles and to develop all skills (speaking, listening, reading and writing). I also graduated in Belgium with a Masters in Economics and worked in Finance.

I am a UK-based tutor offering online tuition (via Skype) in Italian and Spanish, (all levels including GCSE and A-Level), French for holidays and English as a Foreign Language. I am a former secondary school languages teacher and have experience tutoring other subjects – particularly Maths, English, Science and Humanities - up to Key Stage 3. Once the coronavirus has passed, I will also be able to offer face-to-face tuition in my local area.
I am a former secondary school languages teacher and used to teach Spanish up to A-Level and French to Key Stage 3. I have a first class degree in Spanish and Italian from Leeds University and an MA in Latin American studies. I am also a CELTA-certified TEFL (English as a Foreign Language) teacher.
Comments from some of my students:
“Alison has consistently motivated, challenged and taught my son with interest and care. His Spanish, both written and spoken, is excellent and this is, in no small part, to the efforts of Alison to keep the lessons engaging and relevant. Additionally, Alison is well prepared with lessons, is always punctual and is very good value." C. Wickham Bishops
“My husband and I have really enjoyed our recent Spanish lessons. Alison gave us lots of ideas for resources to help with improving our conversation." A. Wickham Bishops
“Alison recommended a great range of books which are helping us in between Italian lessons. She never makes you feel silly if you get things wrong (which we do!). She ensures we pack as much as possible into our lesson and every week we can never believe the time is up which is a great sign we are enjoying the lesson!” H. Maldon
“Alison is a consummately professional teacher; she strikes the perfect balance between friendly, informal support and high professional standards. More than that, she shows great imagination and flexibility. The sessions have therefore surpassed my expectations. I would strongly recommend Alison." W. Purleigh.

Teaching and tuition experience: I currently work in an outstanding secondary school in Essex and have been working there since 2015. I teach all key stages, from Y7 to ALevel. I have occasionally tutored primary and secondary school pupils whilst studying at university, which has triggered my passion for teaching and my decision to follow this career path. I can offer Italian (native speaker), French, German and English as a foreign language at all levels. I am able to meet a variety of needs, from introducing younger children to a foreign language, to GCSE/ALevel preparation, and adult learning.
Approach to teaching: In my approach to teaching and learning I focus on techniques to help students of all levels and abilities deducing the meaning of unknown words and phrases, helping them reflecting on the link between their native language and the foreign idiom, which will eventually lead to enjoyment, a sense of achievement, learning and success.

I currently teach French and Spanish from year 6 to 11 at an independent school, after training as a teacher in 2015. I have also been a private tutor to pre-GCSE, GCSE and A-level students for 3 years.
I am passionate about languages and have a keen interest in the theory of language aquisition.
In my one-to-one sessions, I taylor my method and materials to suit students' learning styles and personal objectives. So far, I have been taking on private tutees through word of mouth, but having had to deliver their sessions online due to Covid 19, I have explored how to use online resources to develop online tutoring sessions effectively.
This summer, I can offer small group online workshops to focus on particular skills or specific language structure issues. These would be best suited to students using laptops, rather than tablets, and would be using zoom, an application called www.*** and possibly collaboration sites such as Google drive and office 365.
Minimum number of participants: 2 / Maximum. 5.
Cost - £20/60 mins session (Some workshops can be 4 or 5 sessions long, and the cost for the entire workshop must be paid upfront)
Workshops topics (please message me to express interest or ask for further information - I am also open to developping new sessions on particular needs so don't hesitate to message your requirements):
