VIOLIN LESSONS:
My violin lessons are for anyone, no matter how young or old, who wants to learn to play the violin within the context of folk, pop, or rock. We will look at classical violin technique to ensure safety whilst playing, as well as how to read music and music theory. We will look at folk, pop, or rock repertoire, and at the techniques that can be used to make these genres come alive on the violin.
MUSIC PRODUCTION LESSONS:
At its simplest, music production is the careful creative process of capturing and showcasing the raw recordings of a track, arranging them in the sonic sphere in such a way that a listener can truly connect with the artist's intention. More complexly, it can build an intriguing world of sound around the core songwriting/compositional elements. I teach my students how to use music production software and how to put sounds together, leading through to creating fully recorded, produced, mixed and mastered music projects.
COMPOSITION/SONGWRITING/FILM SCORING LESSONS:
Have you ever wanted to write your own pieces of music? Are you looking for feedback on your work? My lessons are for anyone who wants to study the art of songwriting, composition, or film scoring. Sessions will be presented in a supportive way through constructive discussion, practical tasks, worksheets, and writing sessions.

I am an experienced tutor with 10+ years of hands-on professional and academic music experience. The bespoke and personalised music classes that I offer can benefit students of all levels and ages, whatever your goals and ambitions are.
I work with my students depending on their individual interests, pushing for the best sound and creations in each area with bespoke lesson plans and approaches.
I employ plenty of discussion and interesting practical challenges that push the boundaries of what they already know to gain new knowledge that will last a lifetime. Offering lessons in person or online, I have been performing professionally for 38 years and teaching for 26 years. I was initially taught piano by my grandfather, the renowned concert pianist and head of piano at RSAMD, Jack Wight www.*** I then completed my studies under Ms Anna Rastopchina. I currently play in an 8-piece function band as well as a jazz ensemble. I am also the musical director for shows held in the Clyde Auditorium and the Dumbarton theatre every spring. I teach piano & keyboard to all ages and stages. Roughly half my students study for the ABRSM piano grades, and so far my pupils (over 200 candidates) have a 100% pass rate. My other students play for enjoyment, learning various styles and technique. I also prepare students for the school curriculum Nat 4/5, Higher Music and Advanced Higher Music. I teach classical piano, jazz, pop, blues, music theory and composition. I tailor all lessons to the individual needs and aspirations of the student, employing various teaching styles. I also teach some pupils to play by ear, as well as improvisational skills, if requested. I prefer to teach from my own house, where I have a beautiful Yamaha U3 piano, as well as a Nord digital 88 piano, Roland Juno DS keybpoard/synthesizer, vintage Hammond organ and Leslie speaker and recording equipment. Lessons are generally an hour long, except for young students, where I would recommend a shorter lesson of 45 or 30 minutes. I offer online lessons via Skype or Zoom which is suitable for some of my students

I am a student at the University of Oxford, UK having graduated from Oundle School, UK in 2020. I offer a variety of services, including advice on university and school admissions, as well as online and in-person lessons for English Literature, English Language, Flute, Music Theory, and General Music. I am located in Oxford during term time and Bristol in the holidays.
In addition to my strong background in music, having received my Diploma in Flute and Grade 8 Music Theory and having performed in various ensembles and orchestras since I was 7, I also have a passion for education and helping students succeed having worked as a child counsellor for YMCA since 2017 .
