I have over forty years' experience of private tuition to students aged 2 to adult. I have taught maths and English to all ages, including preparing students for entrance exams. I also teach science up to KS3. I have worked with those for whom English is not their first language, to help them improve their skills. I also have extensive experience of working with students with various kinds of special educational need such as autism, ADHD, delayed development, etc.

I’m a qualified Specialist Dyslexia Tutor and work with both children and adults who have dyslexia and/or other SEN. I can offer support with memory, processing and organisation in addition to reading, writing and spelling. The methods used are multisensory and structured. Prior to teaching I always fully assess to identify strengths and areas of development. From this I create an individualised learning plan.

I am a qualified English teacher currently employed at a secondary school. I have experience of KS3 and KS4.
As a professional qualified teacher I have worked in a wide range of educational establishments teaching various levels of ability and students with disabilities for decades. I have successfully tutored 121 and taught English to small group workshops in different environments. I believe all learning must be fun and my methods enable students to be motivated, achieve and engage in their learning. My passion for teaching is reflected in my long years of successful experience and student achievements. In addition, I have taught adults in tertiary education and ESOL learners, for example in migrant communities to integrate within British society. I am also available to help and proof-read educational texts such as disertations for degree level students.
It was a long journey, from Sidmouth to Halifax via Singapore, Greece, Spain, Finland, Brunei, Abu Dhabi, Saudi Arabia and Libya. I have worked for the military (5 years), oil and gas industry (13 years), academic institutions (15 years) and other stuff including preparation for English GCSE, UCLES and IELTS exams (the missing years). I spent the last 12 years of my career working as an English lecturer at Tampere University in Finland. Whilst there, we had the time and opportunity to organise the thesis-writing courses online, so by the time Covid arrived and everyone went into the remote 'online teaching' mode, our courses and materials were already established and ongoing. Covid allowed us to tweak the methodology and presentation tools, so that I now have a tried and tested method for teaching academic writing online, which is what I now specialise in. I also offer a proofreading service using a similar approach, which is also very effective.
So, if you have to write an English article or text, or if you want to generally improve your English writing and presentation skills, please get in touch. The first online lesson will be a GTKY session (free) during which we can get to know each other and set some parameters and targets for the course; much better than trying to explain it all in writing. If we find we are mutually compatible, then we'll set up a schedule and get started. I look forward to heaing from you.
I have almost 20 years teaching experience. I am a mum to one child who has been diagnosed with Autism and so work well with children on the spectrum and over the years have encountered many all with different learning needs. I am organised and approachable and hope to do my best to help all children to achieve their fullest potential.
Having studied English Literature and Language at Leeds University, I then combined my passion for English with my passion for helping young people and became a school teacher.
During my time as a teacher I have progressed to the point where I now lead a large English faculty in a secondary school. I have over 15 years of teaching both English Literature ans Language and regularly see students under my tutelage achieve excellent results at both GCSE and A Level.

I am a full-time Primary Teacher with a mathematics specialism. When not in my classroom, I offer online lessons for all primary-aged children in subjects ranging from Maths, English and Science. I am down to earth and very approachable by both children and adults. I believe learning should be relatable, memorable and most importantly, fun. Each of my lessons build on each other to enable progression and sustained learning through different modes of teaching.

I provide online tutoring with entails the use of a visualiser, visual manipulatives (maths) and online teacher resources to provide targeted support.
What would my first session look like? I often use the first session as a get to know you session along side a small 'quiz'. This is so there is mutual respect and tust between myself and the tutee as I beleive it is so crutial that children feel comfortable in asking questions about their learning without hesitation. This session also facilitates the next learning step for the subsequent lesson as gaps in understanding can be identified and targeted.
