I have been a private tutor for nearly six years for multiple companies - both in person and online. I have hosted exchange programmes to help students with English as a foreign language. I have helped to run summer schools. I have been educated at two Russell Group universities: my undergraduate degree in English Literature and History was acquired from the University of Exeter, while my postgraduate degree in English PGCE with QTS was acquired from the University of Oxford. I have been teaching English in a state comprehensive school for nearly four years, in which I have taught/still am teaching KS3 English, GCSE English (both Language and Literature), and A Level English Language and Literature (all with AQA). I specialise in teaching English to any secondary aged students; however, I have experience in teaching the eleven plus and am also able to help KS2 students with preparation for English at secondary school. I could tutor locally in Witney; however, due to my long working hours, online tutoring is preferable.
Experienced and award-winning screenwriter with over 30 produced feature screenplays. My films have been released all around the world including, Cinderella's Revenge which went to US cinemas in April of 2024. I've had films starring Lee Majors, Danny Trejo, Natasha Henstridge, Nick Moran, Vincent Regan and many more. Having worked extensively with dozens of production companies and distributors I know how to write a screenplay that will attract attention.
I'm also an experienced film journalist having written articles for the past 15 years, predominantly at the popular UK film site, Flickering Myth. Having also studied film at University I am well versed in film theory and can help those wishing to study film to expand their horizons.

About Me: Experience & Interests
Having qualified as a teacher in 2004, I have been teaching at Secondary level (including A Level) for 16 years. My first two years in the profession were spent teaching in Bassaleg School in Newport before moving to Oxfordshire 14 years ago, to teach in a comprehensive school in Abingdon. In 2008, I became Head of English, a role I held for 6 years prior to having children. I have been tutoring privately for the past 6 years, with tutees ranging from Year 5 to Year 11. My area of interest and expertise for tutoring has mainly focused on KS4, but I also have experience in tutoring younger students for their Year 6 SATS Exam and for the 13+ Grammar School examination. In my role as Head of English, I oversaw Literacy across the Curriculum Interventions and Developments as well as mentoring trainee interns and delivering professional development sessions to newly qualified teachers. As a mentor for the PGCE teacher-training course at The University of Oxford, I have also regularly assisted the university in interviewing applicants for their course. As an examiner for AQA Literature, I have had training in understanding the requirements of the new 2015 specification, as well as three years’ experience of grading exam scripts. I am also an assessor for the National Foundation for Educational Research, an independent provider of research in education. I have experience in teaching various exam boards including AQA, WJEC, Edexcel and IGCSE. In my spare time, I enjoy playing the violin and piano, going to the gym, swimming and skiing.

Approaches to Tutoring
Different students require different approaches to learning and so I work hard to tailor my sessions according to the needs of the student. In addition to one-to-one online tutoring, I also offer paired tuition (with someone of a similar age and ability) and small group tuition (Maximum of 6 per class). I offer term-time and holiday lessons: one-off sessions, short term or long term according to the needs of the student. Please send me a message if you would like further information and prices.
