I specialise in Online English tuition, covering all texts in the GCSE and KS3, along with essay writing practice and exam revision. My services also include online adult functional skills tuition. My mission is to help students become more confident in their English skills and to provide them with the tools and strategies for success.
A little about me in the school setting
My roles have allowed me to build on a range of areas that I have been interested in for some time. My focus on ‘pedagogy’ has been developed towards ‘praxis’ – the idea that one reflects and acts uponp ractice to transform it. What I have learnt is that a narrow focus on the classroom isn’t enough. Instead,an effective system is one which develops productive and synergistic relationships between learners,families, and the community, and that a deep understanding of the context in which you work, the locality and the culture in which learners live is crucial. I believe we have started on exciting journey here proceeding and developing positively on recent Ofsted feedback – building on those to ensure that learning really is a community endeavour in the best possible sense. My ‘curriculum’ will not stop at the door of a classroom, or the school gate but will be a transforming powerhouse for all living in the community. This, in practical terms could be parenting support in the form of coaching and peer support; providing evening classes in basic skills, parental revision classes to help them best assist their child. It could be using the school buildings as a base of local CPD provision, for meetings, for collaboration among local departments.
I am working with Tutor4All . We offer a range of tutoring services for GCSE's and A-level students. Our tutoring sessions are designed to be engaging, interactive and focused on student's specific areas of improvement. First Lesson is on Us!
I am an experienced English teacher who can teach up to GCSE in English Language and Literature. I have nearly 20yrs experience working with a whole range of young people both in classroom settings and 1 to 1. I have a proven track record of great results!

I’m Eve H., a qualified and experienced English tutor based in Huddersfield, with over 10 years of teaching experience. I specialise in English Language and have worked with a wide range of learners, including GCSE students, adult learners, and those preparing for Functional Skills qualifications.
I hold a PGCE in Lifelong Learning and a Masters in Education from the University of Huddersfield, as well as a BA Honours degree in Children, Young People, Families & Education from York St John University. My background in education has given me the skills to adapt my teaching methods to suit different learning styles, needs, and confidence levels.
My teaching approach is calm, structured, and fully student-centred. I take time to understand each learner’s goals and areas for improvement, and I tailor every lesson to help them make steady, measurable progress. Lessons typically include a mix of discussion, visual support, step-by-step guidance, and exam-style practice, always paced to suit the individual. I also provide regular feedback and build in opportunities for students to reflect on their learning and gain confidence along the way.
Outside of teaching, I’m married with a one-year-old son and two dogs, and I enjoy spending time outdoors with my family. I believe that learning should be engaging, supportive, and empowering — and I always aim to create a positive environment where students feel comfortable and encouraged to do their best.
