Science Clinic Private Tutors was founded in 2010. Our vision was to help struggling children understand the concepts of the major subjects which are sought after by many colleges & universities. Our tutoring was mainly in the main subjects (Maths, all 3 Sciences & English Language) to exam students only. Because of the huge demand of tutoring in all year groups, we now teach students across the board from Primary (KS1 & KS2) through to GCSE, A-level and University. We were luck to have had colleagues we share the same vision with join us. Now we can teach all subjects from Primary through to GCSE, College /A-levels and Science & Maths at University level. All our teachers / tutors are graduates and qualified teachers with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) who understand the National Curriculum. Some of them are examiners at GCSE and A-level, which means they know the exam techniques students need to answer the exam questions properly and get better grades. Within the team, we have professionals with very high qualifications ie Masters Degrees (MSc / MA) and PhDs in various subjects. We can, therefore, be confident to say we are professionals who are dedicated to what we do with proven records in the UK’s most entrance and national exams. We are a tutoring organisation that is defined by its professionalism. Our aim is to provide a personal service. This makes us very different from most tutoring companies that just offer a platform for tutors and students to meet. We speak to clients so that we can match them with the most appropriate tutor for their needs. When this happens, the results can be remarkable & confidence grows. We personally know all our tutors and all have had DBS checks and their qualifications checked before we take them on. We are also a member of The Tutors’ Association (TTA) which was formed in 2013 to provide standards to the tutoring industry.

Hello there,
Raising the academic attainment of students has been a deep passion and successful achievement - as a founding former headteacher of a school for 4- 16-year-olds (ten years), a teacher, and a tutor. I have recent English teaching experience at a school (and remotely), in addition to marking GCSE English Language and literature papers. Therefore I am at ease in teaching both key stages three and four students. Over a ten-year period, 98% of my tutees have gained entry into the elite Grammar Schools (a few students gaining scholarships each year too). During the last two years, 97% of my English Language tutees have achieved levels 7-9 in GCSE English Language and 96% in GCSE English Literature.
I am well resourced in teaching face to face or online. An initial consultation with parents, the tutee, in addition to a view of the school reports enables me to gather necessary information about each student. Importantly, the tutorials enable me to get first-hand knowledge of each student enabling me to plan my lessons for the individual.
I look forward to working with you to raise the attainment of your child.
Yasmin

As a student at the Univeristy of Birmingham, I know first-hand how difficult exam stress and exam pressure may feel on a student, and those experiences are still fresh in my mind. Having achieved A*A*A*A in my A-levels, I am equipped in helping students not only increase their potential, but also increasing their confidence in the exam hall.
I may have only been tutoring for a few years, however I am deeply passionate about the success of my students, as well as being an overall fun and engaging tutor who is always there to offer some extra help!

Many young people are being let down by the mainstream education system, which can often fail to meet their specific needs. School exclusions are on the rise, with 6,685 young people being permanently excluded in 2015/16. Children with special educational needs account for more than 50% of those exclusions. The knock-on effect is damaging – more than half of people with no qualifications are unemployed, despite wanting to work.
Many of the young people who come to us have had problems at school, or can’t or don’t want to attend their local college. We get them on the path to success.
Our personalised Study Programmes and vocational courses provide young people and adults with the skills they need to move in to further education, training or employment. We partner with employers to ensure our students are enthusiastic, work-ready and reliable.

Hello!

I enjoy teaching and am passionate about ensuring the child fully understands the context of the lesson - I am willing to provide homework and extra tasks to support them.
Having worked in a SEN school, I can adapt my teaching style to suit the needs of the child and will always promote a positive wellbeing throughout the lessons.

I began teaching whilst studying for a PhD 25 years' ago. I worked as a classroom teacher in university/college/and sixth-form environments for over 15 years, latterly as a manager, before deciding to work freelance after moving onto my narrowboat. In the last 6 years I have been working as a private tutor with clients aged from 15 to 55, at subject levels ranging from GCSE to post-graduate.
I love working with individuals and enabling them to recognise their potential within subjects they have previously struggled with. I have often found that, as my experience includes working as an examiner at GCSE and A-level, I am able to explain concepts and subject areas in a way that learners grasp easily in relation to passing exam assessment objectives. Learners often find that they can jump grade boundaries easily, once these assessment objectives have been understood, and they suddenly 'get' what the exam question is asking www.***
For me, the key to assessment success is confidence and I therefore work hard to build up a learner's confidence so that they can express their ideas clearly and efficiently within the assessment context they are being examied within.
I work using a number of online platforms (Zoom; Skype; FaceTime etc.) and charge per hour of support provided. This can be in 1-2-1 sessions online, or via email support (for example, feedback on assignments or other work), or a combination of both. I sometimes work with learners for a few sessions on a single assignment or over a period of years across an entire qualification, and have many 'returning learners' who come back to me (sometimes after years) for further support and advice.
I have a First Class degree in English Literature, a Masters in Film History (with Distinction), and nearly 3 decades of classroom experience as a teacher, manager, examiner, and private tutor.
I can support with English Language, English Literature, Media, Film, Photography, Communication Studies and other related subject areas.
I can provide assessment advice, feedback, exam preparation, explanation of key theories and concepts, editing, and proofreading.
I provide a safe and supportive learning environment in which you, or you child, will flourish.
My hourly rate for tutoring is set intentionally low, despite my wealth of experience, as living on a boat is relatively cheap and I wish for ordinary people to be able to access my support.
