I offer individual tutoring online and in my home to those who are sitting GCSE and A Levels in English Literature and Language. I am also very keen to help slightly younger pupils who need help with general English skills like: reading, comprehension, grammar and punctuation, and general writing skills. I am also very keen to help adults who need help with written and spoken communication skills
For nearly 10 years, I have been working both as a private tutor and a schoolteacher, teaching predominantly Spanish and English to students of all ages and abilities in person and online. Following a lifelong love of languages, I studied Spanish and English Literature at GCSE, achieving A* and A respectively, and at A-level, achieving B and A* respectively. In 2015, I advanced my studies at the University of Reading, where, in 2019, I obtained my BA in Spanish and English Literature. In my year abroad, I studied in Mexico (University of the Americas Puebla) and Cuba (University of Havana). Since graduating, I’ve taught thousands of hours of Spanish and English online to hundreds of students, reaching the top of the Spanish tutor ranks on another platform and receiving dozens of positive, predominantly five-star reviews from satisfied clients across the continent. Knowing from personal experience how challenging learning a foreign language or mastering the art of essay writing can be, I aim to facilitate the process for my students by personalising my lessons to their individual needs. Personable, passionate and productive, my mission is to help my students not only achieve but exceed their goals.

Throughout my BSE1 placement in a Year 6 class within an EAL school, I worked closely with pupils from a range of linguistic and cultural backgrounds. This experience helped me develop adaptive teaching strategies and a clear understanding of how to scaffold learning effectively. I consistently aligned my teaching with the National Curriculum, used formative assessment techniques, and prioritised inclusive approaches—key skills that now inform how I personalise learning in a one-to-one tutoring context.
In my role as a teacher partner in a Year 3 classroom, I supported a wide range of academic and emotional needs. Collaborating with the class teacher, I led small-group interventions, created tailored resources, and provided pastoral support where needed. These experiences have translated well to tutoring, where I take a focused, pupil-led approach—adjusting my methods to ensure each child feels supported, challenged, and confident in their learning journey.
My one-to-one work as a GCSE tutor supporting five students has been particularly valuable in developing targeted instruction and feedback techniques. I built strong relationships with each student, quickly identifying gaps in understanding and adapting my teaching style accordingly. Raising the academic attainment of students has been a deep passion and successful achievement - as a former Founding Principal of a school for 4- 16-year-olds, a current practising English teacher, and a tutor. I am currently teaching English on a full-time basis and therefore have up-to-date knowledge in English Language and Literature. I have significant experience teaching remotely. In addition, I have extensive experience in marking GCSE English Language and literature papers. Over ten years, 98% of my tutees have entered elite grammar schools (a few students have gained scholarships each year, too). During the last two years, 97% of my English Language tutees have achieved levels 7-9 in GCSE English Language and 96% levels 7-9 in GCSE English Literature.

Hello, My name is Abby, I am currently 23 years old and I currently work as a 1:1 LSA (DBS checked) in a mainstream primary school setting where I specialise with children with additional needs ranging from autism, ADHD, dyslexia and other needs. For the past year I have also been working as an English tutor and have predominantly worked with GCSE students and one primary school child. Again ranging in ability, from teenagers with strong abilites who just need a bit of a helping hand, to students with autism who are struggling at grasping thier subject. I am not a qualified teacher as I am traigning to be an acreditied counsellor. I strongly feel that this occupational ambition has really helped me in the field of education as all of the students that work with require more that just 'teaching' they require confidence and encouragement that they can ahieve their goals and they can excel in anything that put their mind to.
