E
I'm a Cardiff University graduate and a passionate, patient teacher. I have 9 years of teaching experience and training from exam boards across England and Wales.
Are you a GCSE student? For some of you, it’s exam season and you’re probably under a lot of pressure: from school, from family, maybe even from yourself. I’m here to help guide you through the material in a way that works for you. Whether you’re overwhelmed and we need to break it down into more manageable chunks, or you’re looking to challenge yourself for those extra marks with some intense revision and original ideas, I always tailor my sessions to work for my students’ unique needs. Perhaps you're a parent or guardian looking to support or challenge your child? Over the years, my students’ ages have ranged from as young as 5 in group settings, up to 19 for 1-1 sessions. Engagement is important and I know how to keep students actively learning. I always focus on building confidence, fostering curiosity and encouraging creative, independent thinking, as I believe these are the real foundations of academic and personal success. For KS3 students (11-14), it’s important to broaden their knowledge base by using longer texts from various historical periods, comparing and contrasting literary contexts and choices, and introducing analytical thinking and writing. This ensures students are exploring literature and their own writing through a rich, varied approach in line with national curriculum guidelines, leaving them well prepared to develop themselves further in the following years. If you have any questions or think I might be a good fit for you or your child, I’m happy to message or offer free web chats, so don’t hesitate to get in touch. I'd love to hear from you!

To whom it may concern,
After teaching in the UK for a year working with underprivileged teenagers, I decided to move to Asia to continue my teaching career. That was over 18 years ago and in that time I’ve had the opportunity to teach students of every age and level, from beginner to advanced. I have extensive experience in teaching IELTS, TOEFL, TOEIC, business English, everyday general conversation, pre-K, kindergarten students, primary school students, and high school students, in training centers, government schools, as well as teaching English privately; online, and in person.
I’d describe myself as dependable, tenacious, patient, easy-going and friendly, consistent, conscientious, and professional. I’d describe my teaching style as energetic, fun, encouraging, and inspirational. I aim to make my lessons as interesting and as stimulating as possible with the ultimate goal of seeing my students graduate to the level they aspire to thus unlocking their true potential, in doing so creating strong student-teacher relationships. My 17 years of experience, structured into a working-class focus the students on the lesson and subject matter, ultimately leading to them retaining more information and motivating them to continue on with their English speaking journey. During most of my classes, my students are so relaxed and happy that they often forget that they are learning English!
I expect the highest standard from my students and more than nine times out of ten I get it. I value the responsibility I have been given as a teacher and take from it many rewards. I love my job!

I specialize in pronunciation has I have lots of experience working with accents, and I know what is going on in the mouth, tongue, and jaw with pronunciation. While I don't believe you can or should eradicate an accent, I can help to make it easier to understand you. I can also just help you with conversation practice and get comfortable speaking in English.

To Whom this may concern,
I am writing to express my strong interest in the tutor position for Science at TutorExtra. As a recent graduate with a degree in Biomedical Science and a passion for teaching, I believe I am well-suited to contribute to the academic success of students in the Science department.
Throughout my academic journey, I have developed a deep understanding of various scientific disciplines, and I am eager to impart this knowledge to students who share a similar enthusiasm for Science. My education in Biomedical Science has equipped me with a solid foundation in subjects such as Biology, Chemistry, and Physiology, providing me with the expertise required to effectively tutor students in these areas.
During my time as a student, I actively participated in tutoring programs and peer mentoring, which allowed me to hone my communication and teaching skills. I greatly enjoyed helping my peers grasp complex concepts and witnessing their academic progress, reinforcing my desire to pursue a career in education.
I possess a patient and empathetic approach to teaching, understanding that each student has unique learning styles and needs. My goal as a tutor is to create a supportive and engaging learning environment that fosters critical thinking, problem-solving, and a genuine interest in Science.

While living through my own student experience, I found myself working with peers to help with essay corrections, gramatical understanding, and proper vocab usage. Then, with the dance studio I practiced at, I began a job as a teaching assistant at age 14. Over my four years of employment, I worked with Students aged 3-15 in helping them learn new combinations and better their technique in preparation for performances. This job allowed for me to build my own communication skills and garner understanding for how to cater to individual learning styles. In my final year of this job, I began helping younger students before or after class with their academic work as well-- students aged 8-12 would see me for maths, history, and/or english help. Through the years, my ability to understand and communicate with students, individualize learning styles, and my responsibilty for the well-being of students has become part of my skill-set. Having moved from New York to attend University in Cardiff, I hope to employ this skill-set here.
