Raising the academic attainment of students has been a deep passion and successful achievement - as a former Founding Principal of a school for 4- 16-year-olds, a current practising English teacher, and a tutor. I am currently teaching English on a full-time basis and therefore have up-to-date knowledge in English Language and Literature. I have significant experience teaching remotely. In addition, I have extensive experience in marking GCSE English Language and literature papers. Over ten years, 98% of my tutees have entered elite grammar schools (a few students have gained scholarships each year, too). During the last two years, 97% of my English Language tutees have achieved levels 7-9 in GCSE English Language and 96% levels 7-9 in GCSE English Literature.
I am well-resourced in teaching face-to-face or online. An initial consultation with parents and tutee, possibly a view of the school reports, will enable me to gather necessary information about your child. I have taught in two countries, have tutored children in years 1 to year 5 but have taught all across the school. (5years).
I have been teaching primary for 4 years now and am greatly enjoying it. I have taught the entirety of KS2 during this time and have experience teaching KS1 also. During my most recent year, I taught year six and supported pupils through their SATs. Pupils achieved a 100% pass mark for the reading paper with 42% achieving the greater depth standard. Pupils also scored highly in grammar and 81% achieved the expected standard in this subject. In maths, 42% of pupils achieved the greater depth standard in 2022-2023.

I am a Spanish and English Graduate from the Russell Group University of Leeds with over 3 years tutoring experience. This began with a mixture of guided reading coaching, teacher shadowing and teaching EFL tutoring in Madrid for two consecutive summers. Here I was entrusted with independently researching and collating my own lesson plans to markedly raise the linguistic level of nine-year-old Alejandro. Within a week, Alejandro could form the second and third conditional clauses in English, a high-level requirement for a student of his age. Personally, this taught me that flexibility is paramount in engaging students and improving their confidence; there is no one-size-fits-all method to tutoring.
I currently provide professional online GCSE tuition in English Literature and Spanish for “Tutortoo”. I have been a tutor for a few years teaching both face to face and online. To me, the most important thing as a tutor is to really listen to your student and let them explain what they may find challenging about a subject. Each student is different and therefore their lessons should also be unique. My students appreciate my friendly approach to learning and it is important that the students are in the driving seat of their lessons. I regularly ask my students what they would like to focus on and I base my lessons around where they can make the most progress.
I think it is important to have a tutor that is actively learning more about their subject of choice and that is why I am unique as a tutor. I am currently studying English literature with French and Spanish at The Universoty of Sheffield and this degree encompasses my strenghts and also what I enjoy.
