For the past 10 years, I've taken care of 4 nephews and a niece, ranging from the age of 2 to 10 years old. When their parents are busy with work, or otherwise occupied, I'm the first they call. I have changed their diapers, bottle fed them, bathed them, helped them brush their teeth, dropped them off at the nursery, and then at the school when they were older. I've cooked for them, I've tutored them, helped them with their homework, given them life advice, etc. I'm very proud to say that all 4 call me their favorite aunty.
I understand how hard being a parent is. I understand how difficult it is to get a few hours for yourself when you've got a baby to take care. I understand that sometimes, no matter how much you adore your little person, you just need a break.
