Discover how they do it. What scales they use, how they create their sublime musical phrases, what their vibrato is like, what ornamentation they favour...
No doubt you want to get a foot in the door fast.
Learn some power chords and play along with your favourite records in the first lesson.
Don't feel abashed about lacking any previous experience. It's not neccessary. I've taken many adult total beginners up to public performance level.
Music theory, Rock, Pop, Acoustic Guitar and Bass Grades.
You don't have to do them but it's nice to be able to guage your progress and if you're hoping to do a GCSE in music or go to a music college being able to show your credentials can be essential to getting an audition.
My students have a 100% pass rate across 30 years.

I have been playing guitar for 16 years and teaching music for 3 years. I have been involved in a variety of different bands and ensembles within that time. My main focus throughout this time has been all kinds of rock music but I also have lots of experience in metal and acoustic singer/songwriter styles. I qualified from Leeds College of Music, gaining a 2:1 degree in Music Production and Performance, and possess a passion for music and teaching. I have recently completed a Post Graduate Certificate of Education in Music at Edge Hill University, achieving a Distinction in the process.
I take a very professional approach to teaching and I usually like to start the student off with a song to allow them to enjoy playing immediately. No matter what their ability I find a student is always able to learn a song they know and with this approach they progress much faster. I can take you all the way from a very beginner through to advanced levels. I take a practical and direct approach and would expect the student to be involved from the very beginning.

I've been playing guitar since I was 12 years old. I'm now 26 in march (2023). Have an encyclopedic knowledge of all things music related. Will cater to any genre interests on the guitar. I can also teach Acoustic guitar as well. Jitsi meet up calls are preferred wherever possible due to them being free while a zoom meet up is only free for the first 40 minutes. I have many years of teaching experience from youth clubs and schools in Denmark and in the UK. I am registered on the update service (Enhanced DBS). I am very keen to use my experience and the knowledge that I have to teach others. Educational background: I have attended different music schools and courses both in Denmark and in the UK. I did a one-year diploma course at MI, Musicians Institute (GIT), studying guitar, together with band integration, leadership, music theory, and songwriting. I am a versatile guitarist, songwriter and media composer known primarily for my work with the London-based alternative pop band Tenacity. I have been teaching guitar independently for the past two years, with students praising me for my unique approach to teaching practical methods of applying music theory, as well as my friendly manner.
Teaching has always been a passion of mine; to me, there is no greater feeling than giving the gift of knowledge, and I love to explore the different ways people learn. I chose to study Mathematics at A-Level and then univeristy not out of some deep love for the subject, but simply because it was fun and challenging. It is problem solving to the extreme which requires grit and optimism. Far from being the stereotypical maths student, I enjoyed music (I played in a band during university), surfing and mountaineering. Having a wide interest base gives me life experience that means I am approachable and able to relate easily to people.
In sixth form I tutored a Year 9 pupil heading into GCSEs who lacked confidence when it came to Maths. Over the proceeding months we focussed on areas of struggle and building confidence. She passed her GCSEs and is now happily studying in univeristy. This lead to me teaching GCSE level Maths in Tuscany, Italy, over a month during my second year at Cardiff University. This was a unique and rewarding experience, with a fair share of communication challenges due to teaching in what was for some students their second or third langauge! However, I was commended on my communication skills and positive nature.
After completing univeristy in June 2020, I worked various jobs while preparing for Royal Marines training. I began Recruit Training early 2022. Ultimately I was unsuccesful during training but am now happily studying a MSc in Economics at Durham Univeristy. I am a freelance guitarist based in London, and have just finished studying a BA(hons) Degree in Music Industry Practice at the Academy of contemporary music (ACM).
