Hi! My names Lisa and I am an English and Drama/Theatre Studies Tutor. My qualifications are up to a Masters Level with 14 years of experience in live Touring, West End and Regional Theatre and Events,
I have been tutoring English to British and Foreign students for over 8 years, working with all age ranges in ESL, exam preparation for 11+, 8+ and in depth text analysis. I tailor the lesson to suit the needs of the student using the AQA, OCR, WJEC and Scottish curriculum for GCSE, A levels, National 5's and Scottish Higher's as well as helping degree students with their essays, personal statement, college applications and dissertations. I take a friendly approach, asking students to engage in critical analysis and conversation to build essay structures, giving my students ownership and enjoyment in their learning. I also have first hand experience of working on Drama texts and Backstage elements, with extensive experience on working on major productions nationally and internationally.
I can teach English and Drama/Theatre Studies from early years to Masters level,
I have an enthusiasm and passion for teaching and a goal to build confidence in my students of any age.
I am fully DBS checked. I also do one off lessons, editing and work with students, who are only needing a few lessons for an assignment.

I am a person who finds joy in many things in life. I have a great passion for reading, and I find that books are one of the best ways to broaden my horizons and gain new knowledge. Teaching mathematics is another activity that brings me immense satisfaction, as I am able to help students understand and appreciate the beauty of this subject. Along with this, I also enjoy researching and exploring new ideas and concepts that help me grow both personally and professionally.
Apart from my academic interests, I have a keen interest in sports, which helps me stay fit and healthy. Tuition 1-2-1
Everyone finds exams and tests stressful, and if your child could do with some extra support, our teachers have a proven track record of providing first class tuition in their subject/s specialism. Our teachers have the ability to help your child to achieve their true potential, which could mean moving up a set in school or a grade higher than predicted at GCSE.
Our teachers will come to your home at a day and time that is convenient for you and your child. All materials are provided by the teacher and if you are happy for them to do so, they can liaise with your child’s class / subject teacher to ensure your child gets the most out of tuition.
We have a full range of range of subject specialist teachers who can provide tuition covering all the new specifications:
Maths and Numeracy English Language and Literature Languages Humanities
This list is not exhaustive.
When we say 1-2-1 tuition, that’s exactly what we mean. No other pupils for the teacher to focus their attention on, just your child.
Dyslexia Assessments
You might suspect that your son or daughter has dyslexia if their reading and writing skills are not developing as you anticipated, despite the fact that he/she is articulate and has good oral language skills. You may notice that your child struggles to ‘sound out’ words when reading or be unable to recall whole words such as ‘the’, ‘and’ or ‘was’. You may notice that your son or daughter easily forgets simple instructions and appears to day dream much of the time. All these are characteristics highly associated with dyslexia.
Other signs to look out for are:
They are struggling with spelling, writing or reading and or numeracy. They are not progressing as quickly as his/her peers or not progressing at all. Their speed of processing, whether spoken and or written language, is slow. They may be forgetful of words. They may have low self-esteem.
We are able to complete dyslexia screening assessments, full diagnostic assessments and DSA (Disabled Students Allowance) assessments using highly qualified personnel that have active registration together with an approved Assessment Practising Certificate with the professional body PATOSS (Professional Association of Teachers of Specific Learning Difficulties).
After your child has been assessed, you (or they, if they are over 18) will receive a report that outlines the outcome of each test completed. The report will also contain recommendations of what support is required to assist your child to make progress in the areas where they are having difficulties.
If you think that your son or daughter may have dyslexia and nobody appears to be listening to you, we can help you. If you require an up-dated assessment of your dyslexia in order to access support at University, we can help you.
