Theatretrain Cambridge South
School, Learning Centre
|
Theatretrain has been training young people in the performing arts since 1992. We have centres nationwide. Cambridge South has been running since 2003 and classes are held on Saturday afternoons (1:30 to 2:30 for ages 3-5, and 2:15 to 5:15 ages 6-18) at Trumpington Meadows, and we also have another centre, Cambridge North, which operates on Saturday mornings at Chesterton Community College 10am to 1pm (for ages 6-18).
Main school students are taught in three age groups, 6-9, 9-12 and 13-18 years. They enjoy one hour each of singing, dancing and acting. Classes are excellent for enhancing their personal development, learning team working and leadership skills, improving self-confidence and generally enhancing their ability to learn.
A main performance takes place every year, alternately locally or in a prestigious London Theatre - we will be performing "Move!" at the Royal Albert Hall in June 2019. All students are able to take part. Our shows feature only Theatretrain students and they are on stage for about 80% of the show. We also get involved in local initiatives and sharing of work with parents at other times of the year.
Students who have trained with us for 6 months have the opportunity to audition for our sister agency - Goldman’s Management, if they wish to look for paid work on TV or stage. Successful applicants will then feature on the national database of performers, Spotlight. Auditions are held twice a year.
We offer a free explorer session or alternatively you can book a two week, no obligation taster course for £20.
Our Minis class for ages 3-5 years incorporates a mix of dance, singing, and storytelling and is the ideal introduction to stage performance for younger children. This class is ideal for developing confidence, learning some basic theatre skills and a good preparation for the main school classes. Our teacher specialises in early education. Minis are also able to apply for the agency.
