What is communication?

Communication is the transmission of symbols from one point of view (of one person or group) to another, provided that the meaning of the sender's symbol is intelligible to the receiver.

Communication is the means by which behaviour is modified, changes are made, goals are realised. Modern management is not possible without communication. On the one hand, it relies on the existing complex forms of communication, and on the other hand, it builds such forms that facilitate not only joint activity but also management itself. What is communication's main purpose?

Encode - This is the translation of the ideas of the source of communication into a set of signs for the language that expresses its purpose. The function of encoding is to provide the forms in which information can be expressed as the transmission of signals.

Deciphering - reception. For the communication process to be complete, signals need to be decoded. Each receiver of information interprets (decodes) the signal using experience and suggested recommendations. The closer the encoded signal is to the target defined by the source, the more effective the communication.

Feedback - The sender of the information hopes that his signal will have a high degree of accuracy. Since signal accuracy is rarely perfect, providing feedback in the communication process is desirable. One-way communication is more operative than two-way communication. But bilateral is much more accurate. With the help of feedback, one can evaluate how effectively he is communicating and also enhance the accuracy of signals in his future communications.
