I have a deep passion for education as I value the opportunities effort, interest and knowledge affords everyone and how it can maximise their academic and artistic potential. I am certain this interest of mine can fuel and benefit the role of the Online Tutor greatly.
I am a student studying an undergraduate degree at Loughborough University currently pursuing a placement year in London. I completed the International Baccalaureate Diploma in 2023 at King George V School, taking English Language and Literature, History and Design Technology at a higher level and Chinese, Maths AI and Visual Art at a standard level. I have had experience in both online and in person tutoring and have extensive knowledge of both the content and exam technique of the subjects I offer to teach. Additionally, I have great experience in tutoring for qualifications such as the IB Diploma, A Level, IGCSE and HKDSE and am capable of teaching all age ranges and levels of education.
In my lessons I focus largely on exam technique catered toward the specific subject and its style of examination as well as essay writing and structures, putting an emphasis on how to convey the student’s thesis and argument in a clear and straightforward manner. In English lessons I help with formal analysis in literary texts and visual pieces. Lessons include timed practices, guided essays and guided analysis.
I am a hardworking, passionate and positive tutor determined to exceed the responsibilities I am given. I am confident I have excellent communication skills able to adapt speech and learning styles to each individual student. This is evident in my current record of students, with each final grade scoring far higher than they predicted. Having past experiences in office environments, tutoring and customer service, I take pride in my team working abilities this role requires.
I have attached my CV. Additionally, I have excellent references and would be delighted to discuss the possible vacancy with your convenience.
Thank you for considering my application.

I’m a lively and friendly person. I was born and raised in Malaysia. I speak fluent English. My first language is Chinese. I once taught a group of 5 students English for five months. I am also currently teaching Mandarin on different teaching websites. I have a passion for teaching as the students are always keen on learning. I feel a sense of achievement every time my students learn something new which led me to wanting to teach Mandarin to all age learners. I am very patient and willing to make friends with my students to create a positive environment where my students are welcome to raise any questions and share their ideas. And knowing that there are different types of learners, I desire to create a positive environment to meet the students' unique needs. I always try to use different resources to help achieve the students' potentials.

I am a professional Mandarin Chinese teacher, having taught in a number of institutions. I have PGCE and QTS certificates, as well as two teacher's qualification from China for teaching primary, secondary and higher (university) level. Before settling in the UK ten years ago with my English husband, I taught both English and Mandarin Chinese in China at primary, secondary and graduate level for over ten years. Since coming to the UK I have continued teaching Mandarin Chinese to children both in a school setting and private one to one home tutoring. I am good at teaching both online and face to face in interactive and fun ways. I take pleasure in creating very effective resources for private students. My teaching method is comprehensive, covering the four skill areas: listening, speaking, reading and writing. I am hardworking and passionate about the subject and I am always striving to improve my students’ knowledge and skills in Mandarin Chinese via a wide variety of effective teaching approaches. With my support, my students have achieved very good progress. I am a friendly, open, caring, patient, considerate, dedicated and responsible person. I have travelled extensively across China and Europe.
Please note that currently I DO NOT have a subscription. If you wanted me to be able to reply to you, you have to have a subscription. Then I would be very happy to teach you/ your child and to achieve your great goal! I hope to see you soon! :)

Typically, I’d provide 15-30 mins of trial lessons for students. In the trial lesson, I would examine their skills so I would know how to teach them, and I would also let their parent know the problem with their children.
I would also set specific targets with the students so they would know what they aim for each lesson.
Moreover, we would also have some test and review sections so the students could improve themselves.
Additionally, at least one homework per week for students to revise.
A standard lesson would be one hour (60 mins) via Zoom or Google meeting, costing £18.
